This. Put your earbuds away, order a beer, and comment on the sporting event on TV and you can play 12/9 and nobody is going to say a damn thing about your play.

One way you can combat a tight image is by raising whatever pots you do enter. 1/2 NL players love to limp, and most are nowhere nearly as aggressive as they should be when they play. So when you play aggressively, it gets noticed, and most will think that you're playing non-premium hands because, in their minds, no one gets enough hands to justify all the raising that you seem to be doing.

As result, your aggression is going to be confused for being loose. That's what you want anyway.

Just ignore them?

It depends on the room though - if you're in a casino then whatever, casino is not gonna kick you out for playing tight (at least not at any reasonable stakes non-"protected" games).

If you're in an underground club they will ban you if you don't give action, so you should just put it in if it's close.

Whatever though, why do you care if you're winning? If they can't adjust to your tight play then that's their problem.

Bet heavy when you get the nuts. The dummies who complain about you being too tight will be the ones most likely to call.

Or I could just take my EV out of the pot, and skip dealing the turn and river. Someone with a laptop could run PokerStove and figure it out for me.

The point is, if I had unlimited buyins I would agree with you. But if I take a few bad beats, there's no more money and I have to go home. That is why I tighten up at tables full of maniacs.
THEN YOU NEED TO GO TO A GA MEETING
you should not be playing with money you can't afford to lose.

Regardless of reason, my answer is always the same when another player publicly criticizes my play. I look them right in the eye and deadpan "Well, you see I play bad sir/ma'am. I am a bad player whose expertise cannot and will not match yours".

That has frozen many a hecklers, mostly because it's usually what they want to hear.

Just say, "I gotta be careful, this is my wife's medicine money."

Hey said "But if I take a few bad beats, there's no more money and I have to go home."

That sounds a lot like a guy who knows how much disposable income he has, and has set limits for himself.

"One day I'll be as good as you and I can play more hands like you and not go broke"

Ultimately this is very common but they are out of line to comment on how someone else plays so I would try to deflect and be humorous/personable at first but ultimately I would say "I'm going to play my money however I want and you should play your money however you want. If you don't want to play with me there's the door."
