"...Straub has two matters pending before the agency: a petition asking for a ruling that he does not need a full casino license, and an application for a license, should the petition not be approved..." http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news/...403649246.html
My understanding is that a date has not been fixed for the first petition. Should that petition not be approved, the CCC will schedule a date to hear the second petition. Doesn't seem to me that the 'casino' part of the 'casino hotel' will open before the summer...

No, it seems like an awfully sketchy spot to me.

But, if I'd manufactured that spot for myself, I'd fix it or get out, rather than dicking around arguing that the rules should be different.

I trust the business judgment of the successful businessperson in this instance. If there were a better play financially than arguing for updated rules, I'm sure that's what would be happening.

revel was so beautiful. i thought it could give borgata a real challenge. too bad the layout was just so terrible. if they reopen HQ or rebrand it to be like HQ they def have a better shot at some success.

Still closed.

No liquor license, various others (besides the gaming thing), no inspections.

I have to wonder if the alleged President's Day reopening was just fuel for his whining. The date first came up around the time Straub lost the last round on the gaming license, and smells a bit like "Look, *I* want to reopen, it's the state holding me back," which is his entire argument about everything. From the stories linked, it doesn't sound like there was any chance he was actually ready to open the doors this weekend.

I'm starting to think he's just going to try to sell it and leave AC. He would already be open if he just followed their normal application procedures. I can't imagine his lawyer recommending that he take this route from a legal perspective. The city probably wants to snap accept his applications so that he'll pump some life into the boardwalk.

I walked by it this morning. No way he was ever planning on opening for February 21st. There are no signs for the new "TEN" anywhere in sight. In fact, there are still large Revel banners hanging on the building touting their promotions. There are still chain link fences everywhere. It doesn't appear that they've made any effort to get ready for an opening at all.

If he were going to drop it and walk away, I think he'd have done it by now. It's been clear for a long time that his charm and the brilliance of his plans aren't going to cause all the barriers to spring out of his way. He's in it for infinite choruses of "I could turn this whole town around, if they'd just let me."

Not saying I believe it necessarily, but how could it get any worse?

The Taj would probably reopen first before TEN does.

And now Straub's refusing to make the property's PILOT payments.

Might be off topic but it is predicted summer of 2018. The earliest is spring 2018.

Quick FYI for the entire community: hype threads are minimally modded and almost nothing is officially off-topic because, frankly, there's nothing to discuss unless we make up stuff to discuss. So thank you for the contribution and feel free to add more.
