Soft 2/5 NL games in Las Vegas? Soft 2/5 NL games in Las Vegas?

I'm a winning 1/2 and 1/3 brick and mortar player and am now ready to move up and play 2/5. I'm based in Vegas. From what I've heard, either Bellagio or the Venetian has the softest 2/5 games. Any thoughts on this from the 2+2 community would be most welcome. Thanks.

I'm wondering the same. I abs crush the 1/2 and 1/3 games in Tampa, went out to Vegas and got my ass handed to me at the Bellagio in the 2/5 game, but made good money and/or got my money in good almost everytime on the 2/5 at the V. I may have just been running bad at the B though. Don't remember the details. Either way, the B left a very sour taste in my mouth.

This was about a year ago, so I'm wondering the same thing as OP.

Aria and when it runs at Mandalay Bay from my observations.

Venetian 2/5 is a very "local" game, same with MGM. The quality of these regs is open to debate, but I wouldnt say there are any real soft 2/5 in vegas.

You arent going to fine a place like Tampa hard rock if that's what you are getting at.

It's all relative of course, but for someone just moving up from 1/3, I'd recommend Bellagio. Lowest cap ($500) will let you play accordingly.

Aria used to be the softest imo, but everyone knows now. Weekends are still good (especially with better table selection), but much tougher during the week.

MGM is hit or miss. You have regs, but they're softer than usual 2/5 regs.

Personally, I've never had a soft table at Venetian. YMMV.

There are 3-5 very good 2/5 regs at MGM that are there most every day.

YMMV...

what the hell? Venetian has the softest 2/5 games in the city every single day

Last edited by ashiXIII; 02-20-2011 at 04:39 PM. Reason: also, 95% of all 2/5 games are soft

As another poster once said about 1/2 games (wish I could remember who so I could give credit), asking which one is softest is like asking which McDonald's has the best fries. Similar concept with the 2/5. Aside from that, unless you're talking about playing every single day for a few months or something, your experience at any particular place will be highly variable. You might get the tight table, the loose table, the reg-filled, the drunk and spewy, and anything in between, and that can happen at any room that spreads 2/5. With regularity. So the discussion of what is the softest is pretty absurd since they can all go in any direction depending on when you're there and more importantly, who is there.

so wait... which McDonalds DOES have the best fries?

And I actually think the consistency of a particular McDonalds to produce good/poor fries is *greater* than that of any particular card room's 2/5 game being soft/tough. In my past days of eating a lot of fast food, I really would table select my McDonalds more than one might think is necessary, but my anecdotal evidence told me this was the right thing to do.

I think I'm gonna give 2-5 a shot while I'm out there for March madness. B and V will be my choices since they will have biggest table selection.

Venetian is far from soft imo. Great room...tougher games generally on average.

2-5 at the B is usually a decent game, but like someone said, table selection is key no matter where you go, and the Aria secret is indeed 'out'.

This......

The better question is .............."where is the softest table of 2/5 going right now.........."

......If you really want to find the best available games you are going to have to put some time in scouting games at all the big rooms...

Though their only happened to be about 1 or 2 tables going, I found the MGM 2-5NL game to be soft and juicy. Unlike the Venetian where it's bills and $5 chips, the MGM has stacks of greens in play and I actually think it makes people bet bigger.

Players seemed pretty terrible but there were also clearly a few regulars.

I just had an idea... don't necessarily go to the poker rooms mentioned in this thread.

Here’s my thinking...

The most mentioned poker rooms for finding "fish" were 1. The Venetian 2. Bellagio 3. MGM/Aria

If these are the most common answers then this is where the most 2+2 readers play. I personally respect our community of players and prefer to play against people who don't utilize 2+2.

But I do like to help noobs for karma's sake so heres some advice..

Solution: Feel it out for yourself. Go check out a few different poker rooms; try the V, B, A etc... It's fun man, I enjoyed discovering Vegas. Do a little research and reconnaissance on your own when you get here. Your opinion of the room on the day of that session is the most important information your brain can receive. Getting other people’s opinions on what they may or may not consider fishy play isn’t good enough.

I’ll give you a tip though, get online and create a schedule around casino venues.

Example: the 25th-26th there will be 25,000 people in town for the fashion convention at the Wynn.

Time for a session at the Wynn… (not really just an example)

Hope this helps a little.

^^

The thread is about 2/5 games. If you want to play a 2/5 game on the strip, you're pretty much limited to Bellagio, Venetian, Aria, Wynn and MGM.

The problem is a lot of posters here think "soft" means "loose-passive players" and will vote accordingly.

The Wynn has really soft 2-5 games. I'm surprised that no ones mentioned the wynn

Ok, new question.

What casino's on the Vegas Strip, offer the most 2/5 games?

Usually the more tables of a certain limit, the more fish.

The answer to that question depends on whether a tournament series is running at the respective top rooms. (Wynn, Venetian, Bellagio, Aria, MGM)

On average, I'd say Venetian has the most $2-5 NLHE games, true?

Usually, but Bellagio's right up there too.

Seems to me like the answer is pretty unanimous, Venetian and Bellagio are the best place to play 2/5 NL

I don't understand players who say that they don't remember the details. Poker is all about the details. If you ran bad but played well then it's okay and you will come up profitable if you keep playing but you just got outplayed then it's a problem and the games are probably too tough for you. Those are 2 VERY DIFFERENT things.

Plus, it depends how many hours you played at both. When I was younger I had casinos where I ran better and I liked them more but the more I played, the more everything balanced out between different casinos.

the palms has soft games going every once in a while also at the 2/5 level. in all honesty just table select if you only would like to visit one room a night or something if the 2/5 game is tough just drop down to the 1/2 or 1/3 game available they are all pretty much soft in Vegas. In the end the only thing that matters is hourly so if 2/5 is gonna produce less hourly where your at go to a diff casino or play 1/3.

All about table selecting IMO. The Venetian is the favorite to have both the toughest and softest 2/5 table in Las Vegas on any given night.

As a rule, if you see a lot of posters on 2+2 talking about how happy they are grinding 60 hours a week in a particular room, it is a shark tank. Avoid it.
