I am spending some time in Amsterdam next month and plan on playing a bunch of poker while I'm out there too.

Usually rake in London is 5% capped at £10 (still pretty high IMO) and I play a LAGish sort of game most of the time which works well for me. In Holland however (due to the Dutch government owning all the casinos etc.), they rake 10% capped at €10.

Is it possible to still beat 10% rake playing LAG, or would it definitely be more profitable to make adjustments to tighten up your opening range etc.
Is 10% rake even that beatable in the long run at all?

whats the average size pot in you game, being a lag then I would assume the rakes getting close to max a good portion of the time anyway so whether it 5% or 10%, its still the same, one just gets there sooner

edit: just noticed the doifferent sign for euro and pound (if I am correct on that) Is there a huge diff between the 2 currencies?

Avg. pot is probably around £60-80. You get near enough €1.20 for your pound.
I generally play 1/2 so not a huge portion of pots reach 200.

Most places have 10% rake, don't they?

It all depends on the game. I can beat the game in Seoul that's 10% up to $15, but the games are typically quite soft, run deep, and it's possible to just play huge pots with people that shouldn't be in them.

Of course, I can't really speak for the long run. So few hands get played live compared to online that I could probably put in 50 hours a week of live grinding and not really be able to honestly call it "the long run."

I wouldn't worry too much about playing to the rake - just adjust to the differences in playing style you see there. I just went from $4 rake in Vegas to 10% $12 rake in Auckland and barely notice it because the play is so loose. My hourly rate is actually a bit higher. Any changes I've made have been due to higher implied odds against these players, not the rake.
