But if you play alot of 1/2 you will see alot of "I called the huge preflop bet becouse the better and caller both have big hands so my (insert junk cards) are good and more likely to hit."

In my made up world for how this one ended, the board ran out 3-4-x-2-5 and the lady went home and complained to anyone who would listen that she always is "so unlucky" when playing because she can't even win when she flops a set.

On vacation last week in Maine playing at Hollywood Bangor and that was the main topic at the table, aces were always flopping.

Lull in the conversation, one guy nods at me, so I say, "Hmmm, they must have set the autoshuffler to 'flop an ace' mode."

A couple of guys nod their heads in agreement.

I love it. I'm going to use that line the next time I hear someone talk about this and see if I can get some head nods

Had another good one from this morning. 1/2 pretty tight passive table. Guy with about $70 opened AJs for $10 in MP. CO with about $100 jams all in and then the button who covers snap calls. The guy with AJ looks at me and says 'I can't fold this on a short stack' and calls.

Board runs out. AJ guy loses. Says again 'you can't ever lay that hand down on a short stack' and then proceeds to rebuy for $100.

I nod in agreement.

this happened today and I thought of this thread after the hand.

Limped pot 8 ways 2/5.

Flop 345

UTG Bets 40 (his stack is about 1000). UTG+2 raised to 200. Another player goes all in for ~385. It folds back to the original better who says "are you serious I have a straight" and folds 67.

He said he knows at least one of the other players are on hearts and he didn't want to risk the rest of his stack. When he said he had a straight I thought he folded A2 but he actually folded 67.

The board bricked out and UTG+2 hit a third king otr to take it down. I guess he was trying to limp/3bet.

Playing with people who will fold the nuts on the flop is not a bad thing. Fold equity is under rated.

1/2 game in Vegas.

UTG ($500) raises to $8.
MP ($300) re raises to $16.
BU ($500) calls
SB ($600) 4-bets to $50.
UTG 5-bets to $150.
Button and SB both call.

Flop: KT6 rainbow with one spade.

SB checks.
UTG shoves.
Button SNAPS.
SB folds.

Board runs out As, Js.

SB shows QQ for the strait.
Button shows 5s3s for the flush.

Everyone stares at the Button. He says,

"I knew he didn't have a king."

How can SB show QQ when SB has folded before seeing the turn?

I;m not sure I get it.
Button was dumb for calling with such crap pre-flop?

It was a smart call after the flop b/c of implied odds.
Always call draws b/c of implied odds.

runner runner flush AND runner runner straight, everybody knows the implied odds of that are too good to pass up.

Yeah plus if he has an edge on his opponent, his implied odds go way up.

Exactly. He knew the guy was bluffing. He had 3 spades, drawing on 3 and 5... And straight draws. Longshots, but real. As demonstrated. Plus, fold equity if bluffer checks.

The most insane thing I've seen was this guy who insisted on calling it 'cheating' if a player declined the option to run it twice, if that same player had been given the same option. No matter how within the rules it was, or how clearly it was shown that EV did not change, they player kept calling it cheating.

Not to mention that since they're all-in OTF, implied odds are 0.

"Cheating" is a little strong. But this is an etiquette thing. Kind of like chopping the blinds. If you're going to do it, people expect you to do it all the time.
