Lets try again. Sorry if I did not tell it well.
My buddy faced a horribly undersized flop, turn, and river bet with a weak ace. Almost folded river but called because of how small it was. I asked buddy if he would have folded if it was 75, he said yes; in other words, villain could have won the hand easily by bluffing 75 on river.
Villain emphatically said that he would never bet 75 on river with his hand, completely whiffing on the concept of betting to get him to fold...in his world, you bet your hand, the rest is up to the card gods.
Last I checked, when one bets to get the other guy to fold, aka a bluff, your own hand doesn't matter except maybe for blocker reasons. But he emphatically stood by his assertion that if your hand sucks on river, you shouldn't bet, ever. Don't think that's a winning strategy.
