MGM - Detroit
1/2 (50/300)

I thought this might be a fun thread for the live game players.

I was playing yesterday. A guy comes to our table wearing a skull-cap and sunglasses. He sits down, tells the dealer he will wait until his blind and then demonstratively starts closely watching all of us. When it gets to his blind, he puts his I-Pod earphones in; I swear he was emulating something he saw on T.V. poker.

Anyhow, this guy is bending the ear of the player to his left about strategy when he picks up A A. He bets $10 and gets (5) callers. Pot is $65. Flop comes K 3 9. Aces bets $15 and gets (3) callers. Pot is $110. Turn is 2 Aces bets $20 and gets (2) callers. Pot is $150. River brings 9 AA bets $100 (1) player re-raises all in for $80 more and AA calls and loses to a spade flush.

He then begins to tell the table how ludacris it was for the player to call on the two streets while on a flush draw. He says,

"Do you realize you have only (9) outs and need to have at least 9-1 to be calling in that situation. You know they have books on poker odds and strategy... you should pick one up and quit relying on luck!!"

I almost fell off my seat laughing....

Open limping QQ and 1010 in an 8/16 limit game. She said someone "could have a better pair". And then when she didnt bet at all on any street on safe boards she said "someone could have a set or two pair". Needless to say I did pretty good in the game.

ok im at a 1/2 game a couple weeks ago. towards the end of the night my friend finally shows up. he has been playing for 3 years now but he sucks. but i had no idea he was this bad!

he gets heads up in a pot, board reads JJ88. guy bets 20, my friend calls. river is a J. board reads JJJ88 now. they check it down other guy tables an 8 and he plays the board. my friend tables 66, i asked him about it later and he said " i just wanted to try it out, man." i tried to get it through his head his 66 were counterfeited but he would have none of that. even if he hit he would lose. he had no intention of taking the pot.a couple months ago he seriously asked me if 6789J was a straight.

If you want to hear some really stupid strategy talk, just sit with me at a LL holdem table. I don't like to talk strategy at the table but when I do it is usually poor advice.

In this one home game I play in there's this guy that thinks straddling is a good decision no matter what because you get position preflop. I told him it doesn't matter because you're prob first to act post flop but he didn't care because he said position preflop is the only thing that matters.

playing at the morning tourny at Binion's in LV. ~60 people in the tourny. I'm in seat 7. seats 4 and 5 are arguing over is a flush or straight is better. Really heated arguement. I'm trying not to laugh cause I think these guys are trying to set up the table and they're going to collude. That is until one of the guys asks the dealer which is better, and then argues with him because he's been playing 3 card for a year and a straight beats a flush on there.

There's this one guy who constantly says "yeah I knew you had xx hand" after showdown. He never ever says it before the hand is shown, only afterwords. It's annoying.

omg lol.. that's too funny...

So this didn't happen to me it happened to a friend of mine.

3/6 limit at the local casino. If you haven't been playing alot of limit at the casino then you maybe do not know as I hadn't before this. If you are heads up you can reraise as many times as you want until one is all in...

So... my friend has AQs clubs and has the nut flush on the river (ie: no paired cards on the board, no straight flush possible). His opponent, some 25 year old kid wearing sunglasses. is reraising him on the river and my friend keeps looking at the board and trying to figure out what his opponent has... can't find a better hand and reraise...

...so they reraise 16 times which was around $300 pot total until one of them is all in... at this point, my friend flips over AQ and says "nut flush," the guy with sunglasses says "what?" ... jumps up, throws off his sunglasses, and yells "OOMMGG!" I thought that was a spade! (the river was the 3rd club but he thought it was a spade and thus he thought his straight was the nuts)...

I had a similiar experience.

pre-flop i'm BB with QQ. UTG raises folds around, I re-raise, he re-raises me and I just call. (its all limit)

flop comes KQQ. I bet into him, he raises me, I originially put him on a-k, but with the raise I'm thinking he might have KK. So i re-raise him thinking he will either smooth call or fold with AK and raise with KK.. He re-raises me and I'm doing my we doing to sizzler dance in my head. a couple more raises and i eventually call.

turn comes a K. I do a insta turn to see what the BBJ is (165,000) I am now physically doing the I'm going to own a sizzler dance in my seat. a bet and four raises later and I'm all-in ($120)

he insta tables his card and calls out big slick for a boat. My jaw hit the ground, tears start rolling down my cheeks as I watch my money evaperate in front of me and i table my quads

brag: i doubled up playing limit
beat: 165,000
variance: sizzler

I read a thread here that at some card room quads beats a straight flush, is this some weird disease that is spreading?

Heads up pre-flop.

Lady: I think you have aces but I call.
Me: Why did you call if you think he has aces?
Lady: Well, if he has aces, my 4-4 is about the same as K-K there. And there is no way I am folding K-K pre-flop.

I like how everyone here almost always assumes that wherever they normally play is how it is everywhere else. $3-6 is beatable in St Louis and Las Vegas but I would bet it isn't in Australia or on cruise ships.

$2-4 limit is beatable in markets where the rake allows.

I was playing 5/10 Limit in a BBJ game and raise with AJ, BB calls. Flop is J55 and he check calls. Turn is a 2 and he checkraises me. He's shaking when he bets and breathing heavy so I call. River is J for J552J and he bets out; his hands shaking like he has Parkinsons. I just call knowing he at least has a jack and he says "I hope you got pocket jacks!" as he tables quad fives. Yes monkey, I flat call one bet in limit with quads. I then sigh and contemplate suicide a little bit more wondering why I'm down at this table.

At the same room my brother heard this line at his table. It folds around to the blinds and the SB says "Chop?" The BB looks at him and says "No chop, no flop."
