Playing tonight at PH in Vegas. Was involved in a hand where I bet and raised by a woman. It seems all of her stack has been pushed. I say “all in " and push. I win and she gets up. I'm still stacking when about twenty seconds later, she comes back and starts pointing at my pile and says " I need my two lucky chips back" The dealer and I start looking for what we feel is a card holder. She then points out a red chip that looks like the rest but it does look maybe a bit lighter in color. Can’t really see much difference if at all. Dealer says “You just can't be taking chips back. I need to call the floor." One guy at the table said ' she did have two chips in her hand and she didn't bet those. (how they end in my pile? ) I did say " all in” as well. We never got around looking for the second lucky chip.

Rather then make a big deal out of it; maybe she needed a bus home. I tell the dealer "Its ok let her keep it, that chip wasn't that lucky" which brings some chuckles.

Afterwards the talk at the table what the floor would have ruled. Are lucky chips in play on “all in" if they are on the table or someone’s hand and are the chip of that casino? I don't think it was an angle in this case but of course those lucky chips would have been paid off, if I lost. Maybe that is why its lucky.

Lol... Lucky chips. If they're valid chips that are in play for that room and you moved all in and she called, then bye bye "lucky chips" if she loses.

I would imagine if this was a reg somewhere and everyone knew that these were her "lucky chips" that she always brought with her, then she might be allowed to keep them. This is obviously not the case here though.

Of course she isn't entitled to declare two chips in her stack as lucky chips that she can't lose. But if she really feels those two chips are lucky ... the gentlemanly thing to do is allow her to trade two unlucky chips for those lucky chips.

The correct move would be to locate the 'lucky' chips and give them to a waitress as a tip. LOL

If you're an epic douche, of course.

If the lady is a casual gambler (quite likely) something like that could put her off the game and send her back to slots. Do you want that?

Classy thing to do is what you did, just toss her the lucky chip back. Just as acceptable, offer to sell the chips back for whatever their value is ($5 each, presumably).

Obviously haven't seen the 1001 las vegas hustles and the hustlers that pull them

At foxwoods they have a 2.50 chip specifically for blackjack. If you bring them to the poker tables they do not play.

Sorry--unless the lucky chip is encased in acrylic, it plays.

You see people try silly things with table stakes relatively often. They have two black chips in their hand when they say "all-in" and shove in $200 in red, and then try to claim "these chips don't count". Or they have $30 in $1's and $20 in $5's and say "all-in" and then try to keep the $30 back once they've lost claiming the singles shouldn't count.

The only interesting controversies I've seen like this are when someone has chips from a competing casino on the table and nobody has noticed until there's a hand well underway. Do $100 MGM chips play at Venetian or Caesars, and vice verse? I've seen floors rule both ways.

This surprises me. Seems like casinos would have pretty hard and fast rules about which chips play and which do not.

I'd expect a floor to be pretty savage on a player who intentionally pulled an angle like this though.

"Oh, that $700 in black chips that's been sitting in my pile all night? Those don't play, they're not from this casino."

I've seen this at Foxwoods with Mohegan chips twice. In both instances, the floor ruled they play, but had them removed from the table.

We don't allow any large denomination chips from other casinos on our tables. If you have a $1 or $5 chip from another casino that you want to use as a card protector, that's fine. Nothing above a $5 though.

But it's pretty easy to distinguish our chips from others, even from the side.

I really hope she wasn't throwing herself at you and you air-balled it.

I would offer to sell them back to her for the value of the chips. I'm assuming you would've had to put in the 2 chips from your stack if you had lost the hand.
