How big a tower are you talking. If I have fewer that 15 chips of mixed denominations, I will probably stack them in a single tower, big chips on top, blind\ante chips on the bottom.

Now a mixed\dirty stack of 20+ chips where it is impossible to estimate the value of the stack, yeah, that is annoying.

Also, the guys who riffle their chips with a significant amount of the chip stack value (for example, using the larger denomination chips). Not only can you not see what is in their hand, they usually make dirty stacks with the riffling.

Yeah, my latest gig 'Solutions Architect for IT Interoperability of networkable Medical Devices' usually does not result in a lot of follow up questions.

Can you bluff your way through a conversation with a legitimate IT professional? I play with a few regs who work in IT.

Likely win the "Welcome to 2015" award on 2+2 but I guess iPads at the table are a big thing now?

Played a live cash session for the first time in a few months last weekend and 3 players at my table were turned around watching their tablets on tables behind them the entire time.

Mathematician, specializing in the analysis of equity in an environment of incomplete information. That should cut off most questions and amuse the ones that get the joke.

I actually am a mathematician. Or was, rather.

I like "independent contractor". It's very vague and threatening sounding.

I also think I could bluff my way through IT stuff as I have a computer science degree also, though I am a bit rusty. Hmm...how about I work night shifts in a data center that handles classified information? There we go. No more questions fellows or I have to kill you. Or I get fired. Whatever.

Not so threatening in these days of the gig economy. It just means Uber Driver.

Independent Contractor is a **** answer. The very next thing you'll hear is "doing what" and you'll have to come up with a real answer anyway.

If you really feel the need to come up with something believable, small business owner is the easiest. Just tell people you own a small retail store: they're boring, there's millions of them around, and on the off chance you run into another business owner that wants to talk about it, it's not exactly hard to bull**** your way through a conversation about one.

Was kinda joking about independent contractor. I just like how it sounds as to me it evokes "hitman" or "mercenary" or the like.

I'm going with I work night shifts in a data center and not supposed to discuss details for operational security.

If you own a small retail store, are you going to be close-lipped about it at a table with potential customers?

What about e-novelist who self-publishes on Amazon....and it's trash that you write under a pseudonym and don't want linked to you in real life? There are probably people out there who make a living from writing gay incest werewolf erotica. There definitely are people who have had healthy six-figure annual incomes from porn novels. Amanda Hocking became a millionaire self-publishing young adult paranormal vampire romance stuff.

Just tell that you don't want to sell anything bought or processed, or buy anything sold or processed, or process anything sold, bought, or processed, or repair anything sold, bought, or processed.

Guys who habitually fold 2-4 spots before action is on them, often causing a snowball effect of suck. Often OMC dipwads who just don't GAF.

This is what 2-5 at the Aria is like the 1 or 2 times each winter I make the mistake of going in that room. And when your name is called, you have to wait about 5 minutes for all of these guys to go look at other tables to see if they want a table change.

I have my tablet in front of me about 1/3 of the time when I'm playing. But it's an 8 inch tablet that sits on the rail just behind my chips, and I only look down on it after I've folded my hand, and even then, I'm still socially present at the table.

IMO, the dealer should just automatically take and muck their cards in turn. Having your back to the table, and being otherwise engaged, is no different than being away from your seat.

I've come to the realization that they only thing poker players love more than playing poker is complaining about the game they're playing and the room in which they're playing it.

Harrah's AC last week, 2 seat had his chips in a tower, at least a foot high, conveniently located right in front of his cup of soda. He was constantly spinning one of those fidgit spinners on top of the tower.

I think you all know what eventually happened.
