My pet peeve is people whining about short stacks, when those people have every right to be at the table.

you are entitled to your personal peeve, BDH.

MY opinion of shorties in live poker (same for online as well) is that 'they' change the nature of the game. I don't play live very much these days so when I do venture out of my parent's basement, I want to have an enjoyable time. Shorties that fold or push take away the fun of being a spewtardish monkey that can happen when there are odds to chase. I hate playing tight.

Having to listen to hand stories must've been mentioned earlier but it just gets worse and worse, ime, to the point that I'm ready to snap.

Ever had a reg who tells the same stories over and over so you just go ahead and tell their story first to a newb, cockblocking him before he has a chance to get off on his own whining?

The better players never tell hand stories unless they want to talk strat. Once in a great while they, and even I, start to tell a hand story, realize what they're doing and stop themselves. That's ok. These days players come up to me when on a smoke break: hand story. Tourney break: the men's room is the last place you want to be. Just playing the game and figure you're safe? Someone will come along and tell a hand story to his friend. And the worst part is that there's nothing a civil person can do about it.

I use the most disinterested body language possible and then say 'sick beat' in a monotone voice. But yeah, there's no way to avoid it. Wait so you had the best hand and then it wasn't the best hand anymore? I have never had that happen and nor has any player I know. Tell me more.

Am I the really only one who likes hearing bad beat stories? Commiserating is supportive.

Seat 1 not having the sense to move their hands out of the way so the dealer can pitch to seat 2. By far the most difficult pitch. GTFO of the way and stop causing exposed cards. You don't need to be playing with your chips right now.

I'm willing to listen, but it is tilting when the story either involves a very mundane beat (got QQ in vs AK preflop and ace came ON THE RIVER!!!!), the person played horrendously and is whining about the outcome, or the worst, the person can't remember any of the details, and so it's this long rambling, OK so I raise ace queen and three people call and this other guy reraise, no wait, maybe he raised first and I called? Or did I reraise? Anyway, the flop comes and it is like a high card and a couple low cards, and he bet, or maybe check? Did we bet the turn? Anyway he ended up with pocket sevens!

No one tells a bad beat story like Mold.

know it's been discussed already but happened last night so figured I'd post about it(playing locking up a seat and not actually playing/being at the table)...

seat 7 was a guy that was 'active' in pots and he switched with another player to another table. the player that my table was getting, I've played with the guy several times. Knowing 'his style' I said to him.. "you know you're replacing a guy that stayed at the table so you have a level of expectation you have to meet.. which means you shouldn't be walking all over the place and only playing one hand every hour".

he didn't like that too much but whatevs, validation was had when another player chimed in stating "it's called poker etiquette".

But whatever, my hands aren't by my cards. I want to speed the action up for others (and myself) by announcing a fold so that we can all save the 5, 10, 15 seconds or whatever for me to manage to get my cards to the dealer/muck.

I think it's just being reasonable. I dunno.

When someone calls the clock and then players or even the floor talk while you are trying to think.

Because poker players are a whiny lot.

I agree. One peeve of mine is that a lot of the guys at my local room will still wait for you to physically muck before acting even after you verbally announce fold.

I don't mind walkers because I prefer less players than a full table. Obviously a problem if it threatens to break the game but unless that's the case, go stroll around all you like.

People who take so absurdly long to make decisions that you have to call the clock on them, and then they expect the entire table to sit in reverent silence while they ran that down to the last damn second.

Okay I have a bunch of them from last night.

1) Guy last night kept asking me what I did for a living. He was across the table so not like I could answer quietly. I said I'd rather not say but he kept asking so I started ignoring him. It was really annoying...but what should I say here? Pretty sure "I play poker" is not a good answer. I could make up some nonsense but it rubs me wrong...plus I'm a regular so if I say I'm working Job X yet I'm always at the casino the lie is not going to hold up.

2) Another peeve from same guy. I dropped 4BI in first two hours at the table. Crazy variance. Whatever. But when this guy came to the table I had like 300BB in front of me. And later I stacked him one hand 99 vs. AQ. He kept making comments about how good I was running when I actually left -3BI. It's just annoying when you're running bad and people talking about how lucky you are.

3) Third peeve. I double barrel this guy I suspect has a weak TP, where I have AK on QJ5. He has Q4 and turn is a 4 for two pair. River is a J counterfeiting his 2 pair, so table assumes I'm good. I muck my hand quietly and guy on my right *shouts* "Holy **** he DOES bluff!" Thanks, dude. Nice.

4) Had a dealer out me bluffing on another hand but not sure anyone noticed (amazingly). Board AxxA. I double barrel with KQ. Both guys fold. Dealer asks "Do you have a high hand?" I say "No". He asks again "Do you have an Ace?" I shake my head. He asks again "Do you have an Ace?" I say "No". Come on man...I know he's trying to "help" me in case I didn't notice the high hand or whatever, but asking a player the contents of his hand is messed up.

Last night was bad enough running bad, but players and particularly dealers outing my bluffs is super frustrating.

1. If you don't want to tell them, just give a vague non-answer e.g. 'it's a long story', 'bit of this, bit of that'. If they carry on pushing it, just say 'I'm a professional dolphin rider' or something else as ridiculous as possible.

2. Standard, suck it up.

3. Standard, suck it up.

4. On the second question, I would have said "shuffle up and deal" or equivalent and refused to answer any more questions. If he pushed it, I'd tell him to mind his own business and then I'd go and complain to the floor later.

This is player dependent. If he's the best player at the table and he's on your left, of course you would like to see him give up his spot for a few hands or more. If there is a player on your left so tight that you can run him over, you never want him to leave.

I was playing a tournament yesterday and the guy on my left was 4/5 over 300+ hands. Yes, I typed the correct numbers. I started playing faster because I wanted to play as many hands against him as I could before the table broke or he was knocked out.

I'd be sad if the walker was a terrible fish but generally they're just a meh reg who kind of knows they're a losing player but doesn't want to face up to it.

I hate when people get called for a table change but wait for the button to pass or w/e. Other people are waiting and they're tying up two seats. I don't think it should be allowed. Go to your new table or stay where you are. These are the same nits who wait for the button to pass before taking cards when they first sit down.
