Anyone playing live poker in Melbourne Australia? I've never been in the Crown but I would like to know if some of you been there and can tell me how the tables are. Fishes around? Too many pros?

It will be good also to share the experiences here

Crowns my favorite casino. Miss playing there. The actions great. If you're new to poker the 1-2 they have there is a great place to learn the game and build a bankroll. Plus the staff is incredible and the food is excellent.

I don't know how 1/2 could possibly be a good place to build a bankroll with 10% to $20 rake.

I've been shortstacking the 1/3 while I'm under-rolled for it, which is much more reasonable. It's still high but the players absolutely blow.

Have a look around for home games too. I haven't been to any, but from all the notifications I get, there's a lot of 1/3 and 2/5 NLHE and PLO being played, and the occasional 50c/$1 game if that's more your thing.

Edit: Although I will agree that Crown is a nice casino. I absolutely love playing there on a Friday or Saturday night when the footy is on the screens and the TAB is right there if you want to chuck a few bets on.

The rake is really 10%? If it is then disregard my advice on that. Was it that way a few years ago? Games used to be incredibly soft at 1-2 so it's possible I just never noticed.

I used to know people who'd play 1-2 to move up stakes if they won a few pots. Might not be a bad way to go.

The Home Poker Forum is the correct place to discuss home games. Here's the correct thread for Crown Casino, which is the only casino in Melbourne:
