Hey Everyone. I just heard Harrah's Cherokee is opening 5 Poker Pro tables March 6th. I will be there with a group from Atlanta. Let's blow the doors off the room so they will get more tables. Eventually we'll have the big poker room we were promised!

If you haven't played on the Poker Pro tables, they're great!

It's sick that North Carolina gets poker (casinos, even!) before Kentucky. What am I doing in this state? Maybe I should move back to N.C.!

If it weren't for the horses (and my husband, etc.)....

Are they poker pro tables? I might drive up from Atlanta if there are to try them.

There is still going to be poker closer to most of the population in KY than to most of the population in NC. Cherokee is way out in western NC, and you have the Indiana riverboat casinos near Louisville and Cincinatti.

I'm glad they're getting poker, but couldn't care less about playing on the Poker Pro tables. I'll save my money and make trips elsewhere if I get the urge to play...

Doc. What's not to like about Poker Pro? All the convenience of online with the ability to read live players. More hands, no dealers to tip. I can't wait!

Do you have any kind of link confirming this? Not saying you're lying or anything, I just want some other confirmation before I set myself up for disappointment again

Would be nice for someone near the casino to confirm.

Yep, I called, they are getting five PokerPro tables early in March. All the sudden Gatlinburg doesn't suck quite as badly.

I have it on authority from sources close to PokerTek that this story is confirmed. The tables will be coming to Cherokee and it should be awesome!!

Ehh.. I just prefer chips & cards... especially if I'm going to drive 6 hours to Cherokee. Would probably be likely to play if it was more local. Didn't mean to bash it so much.

LOL. I actually moved to Kentucky for the Thoroughbred industry. If it weren't for my husband, who I met here, I wouldn't play poker (well, I wouldn't play for money and be addicted to it).

We are lucky to have casinos so close in neighboring states, but it is amazing that a state that didn't even have lottery for so long has casinos before a state like Kentucky, with pari-mutuel gambling and a lottery. Pathetic.

Good for you guys in the south. Enjoy!

I don't understand why people would want to play on these PokerPro tables.
It really takes too much away from the live poker experience when you have to look down at a computer screen and touch the screen to bet.

No thanks, I'd rather have a nice stack in front of me that I can fiddle with and confidently toss 5 chips into the pot when I want to bet.

Because playing poker with cards is illegal in NC.

What is odd to me is that this is supposed to happen just over a week from now and there is no mention of it on the Harrah's Cherokee website, the poker pro website, or any news article or press release about it that I can find. Odd that a casino would open up an entirely new poker room and try to keep it a secret...

On the other hand, if you're so enclined to read the tea leaves, the official poker pro representative on two plus two said back in November:

"There is a gaping hole in the U.S.for one that wants to play live poker in NC, SC, Northern Georgia, Eastern TN, etc. I can't discuss casinos we have not yet installed. Suffice to say I believe this hole will be filled very soon."

See post number 15 in this link.

I'll believe this when I see it.

When that county becomes un-dry, then it will be worth that long drive.

I think the casino is going for a "soft open." Clearly 5 tables won't come close to covering the demand if it is marketed all over the southeast. We have it from Pokertek and from Harrah's directly so I'm feeling pretty good about it...

Cause right now most of us in the South East have nothing at all to play. So for a place that is 2 hours away from Atlanta this is the best we can get with out having to go for a weekend.
