Yep ... dead small is a gloss over term .. I will occasionally say "Dead Big" when a player gets up to cash out right in front of their BB. Gotta make sure the table is paying attention. GL

We all know what BS is.
MS is just More of the Same
PhD is just Piled Higher and Deeper

Oh, you mean straddles. Which usually conjures up a non-poker image in my brain.

Funny thing heard at a table this weekend in a 1/2 nl game. One player is crushing the table, keeps sucking out on everybody, and has many stacks of red. So he lines up about 6 stacks of 30 chips each in front of him and says "I'm building a wall and you all are paying for it!"

Hey all, I'm putting together a site-wide, new player only Werewolf game (aka Mafia) over on the POG subforum. It's a lot of fun and we are very receptive to new players. If anyone is interested in trying it out and playing, please reply or PM and I can give you more information. Thanks

I played an all-mod game once and it was really, really fun. The only issue I had is that it is fairly time-intensive; in particular, it is very helpful to be available during the last hour of the "day," which is defined differently in every game if I recall correctly. I recommend it if you're available for that last hour of the day for this particular game.

Yes, End of Day (EOD) as we say is usually a ****storm of posting, vote changing etc. but it's not crucial that players are present for it.

Re: Live Casino Poker 2017 Low-Content/Chat Thread

Last night's session, large pot (for $1/3), multiple all-ins. I wasn't in the hand. On the river my neighbor says, "I've got nothing" and tables his hand in disgust, showing a missed flush draw.

Dealer looks at the cards, scoops and mucks them. I speak up and mention he had, in fact, a straight. No else at the table had noticed. Dealer retrieves them from the muck, ships the $500+ pot to the winner.

Surprisingly, the other two players in the hand have no problem with my actions, understand cards speak, and show no animosity to me, the dealer, or the player who won.

Dealer was pretty quick to muck. I believed the other players when they said they missed it, too. Anyway, just had to share.

Did the muck occur before the other hands were tabled? I wouldn't like that one bit ... sounds like a good 'in the know' poker crowd. GL

Why do care? Dealer made a pretty simple error in part brought about by the player saying he missed (when you plant the seed in persons mind that the hand has no value it's easier to miss the straight) everyone at the table watching, except the poster made the same error. And since the hand was tabled it's easily rectified

I'm not saying it would be wrong to not tip the dealer. I'm just saying it doesn't seem to me that a person not involved should care one way or the other.

I understand on more egregious errors one can say that tipping the dealer may cause future errors because you don't incentivize good dealing procedures and I agree. But I don't think this type of error creates that same issue.

I'm fine with the cards speak on tabled hands, but I'm just curious about the dealer pulling the cards out of the muck himself. I would think that in most rooms the dealer would have to call a floor before he could take cards out of the muck. But maybe that's just the few rooms I've played in.

Re: Live Casino Poker 2017 Low-Content/Chat Thread

If there are 3 players in the hand and only 1 guy has tabled his hand there's no way the dealer should put that hand in the muck. Even if the guy somehow has 7 high it's the best hand at the moment.

Now if the guy tables - says I missed, shows "7 high", other guy shows a pair, then sure we muck the first guys hand without noticing the straight.

And if the dealer accidentally pulls those cards into the muck without noticing the straight but can identify the cards - or remembers what the cards were - I don't see that we need to call the floor to get them out of the muck.

you don't need to get them out of the muck if everyone saw the hand, but you still need to call the floor.

I assumed the other hands were tabled and the poster just left it out because he 2 as trying to get to the main point that nobody at the table complained

Other hands were indeed tabled, it was a multiple all in with two side pots. This part happened for the main after side pots were shipped. Dealer "un mucked" on his own and floor wasn't called.

Weird Optical Illusion

The other day I was playing poker in the casino when the gentleman next to me pulled out a stack of dimes to shuffle with on the felt. A moment later turned to me and asked if I thought the quarters are smaller than usual. I freaked out and had to physically touch the quarters to make sure they weren't fake. Anyone else experience anything similar?

I am assuming it's because the casino chips are much larger than they seem but we associate them in out mind to be about the size of a quarter.

Re: Weird Optical Illusion

Yup. When I play pai gow the quarters seem smaller than usual. As you said it's due to their size relative to the casino chips.

High hand promo every half hour for $500.

Guy at table makes 888 XX full house with 15 min left on the clock.

Kid at table offers to buy the hand for $10. Guy agrees.

High hand holds and kid returns $500 on his $10 purchase. Guy also got tax forms.

Re: Live Casino Poker 2017 Low-Content/Chat Thread

Kid who bought the $500, also bought the tax liability on it.

I understand the casino wants no part of the side bet, and won't prep the tax forms in the Kid's name. But if Kid received >$400, he did well.

I've never read a LC thread, in any forum. I need to start. Loved the "building a wall" line.

Guy just gave the kid $500 in chips. Guy signed the tax forms when he received the prize.

Re: The CHIPSTACK Thread

@everyone who wonders why there are piles of chips at limit games: It's bec there's a ton more action at limit. You folks should try it. Instead of getting 2-3 players/hand for raises there can be 6+ in a good game and there's little tanking (10 seconds would be 'forever'), more hands etc. LHE: The game of the future!
