No, it's a racist tournament. Still, what are you going to do about it.

State that it is against the rules, but admit that it would be nearly impossible to prevent from happening, just as I said in my first post. Tough to believe anyone who actually thought about it would have a different opinion. Looks like many people just want excuses for their clearly unethical behavior, as does the OP. And I had originally given him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was asking about a time he thought someone else was doing it, not looking for permission to do it himself.

You're right, that's the whole problem with tournaments; your equity is continuously being ****ed over by people for all sorts of reasons. Whether it is "legal" to target someone isn't of any concern because you'd have to accuse them of something and you have to prove that. Unless someone actually says it he can come up with all kinds of explanations, however unlikely, that are well within bounds.

Edit: some idiot actually called my all in in a tournament once while saying "I call because I don't like you". I had top set and responded with "thank you sir" but that's the only case I can think of where targeting can actually be punished.

The OP's exact question was whether this was legal or not. So clearly it is of concern to at least one person. Some people believe cheating is wrong even in situations where they could possibly get away with it.

but i am not such a moron that i would lie about the motivation of a player in a hypothetical situation. to what end, sir?!

If they are not colluding, how is this a disadvantage to one player? Even if he got called by all 8 players, isn't the one player better off if they are calling with worse hands than they usually would for the chance to elmiinate him? Usually he loses the all in, but when he wins, he is massive chip leader.

This happened to me. I didn't extend my callng range, I called the floor and had the man removed. I felt bad, a little. For a few seconds.

But I could breathe.

Is this a joke? I can never tell anymore.

Yes but how is this unethical? If there's a player you see as your biggest threat how is it unreasonable to target him/her? It's no different in any sport.

Yes, they are joking/trolling.

Why is it unethical? Depends on the motivation. If you're targeting them because they are your biggest threat and you think your position/performance/result will improve and/or be maximized as a result of them going busto, that is totally ethical.

If you're targeting them because you personally don't like them, they have the wrong color skin, are the wrong sex, your buddy doesn't like them, because you like everyone else and would prefer that person not win, or any other reason that doesn't have to do with you trying to maximize your personal results, that can be showing favoritism or collusion, which is not ethical.
