He was more worried that we would think he was a donk than he was about openly cheating. And of course, nobody says a word, because if you do speak up YOU end up on the ****list for making an issue, and the cheaters and anglers are like "what, I dint do anything, lighten up, don't be so uptight, etc etc."

And it's not just in tournaments either. I've seen plenty of team play going on at the live cash games I've played too, including the $1/$2 PLO at Edgewater, which played a lot bigger than that and where the regs were so openly targeting me, a new face, that if I weren't in the hand it never went to a flop. I've never played above $2/$5 live but every time I play I see guys soft-playing their buddies so there you go.
Sounds like you play in some scummy rooms where the floor favours their regs too much and lets them get away with bs.

That's the Vancouver live scene in a nutshell, which is no doubt why it is dying...

Then perhaps people need to complain to upper management. If people stop getting away with bs, bs will be less likely to occur.

There's also a huge difference between checking down a huge hand and checking down a marginal hand. If one players is all in and two players have chips still, you're not going to see top set get checked to the river, but you might see a guy with middle pair check it down, even though he might normally bet middle pair on the turn after being checked to twice. There's a lot of strategy in not betting when someone is all in, but there's also something to be said for getting max value for your big hands in a tournament.
