How do I go about getting unbanned from a casino?

I was banned a few months ago from a casino for knocking over a trashcan that was sitting outside... Normally I wouldn't care so much about something trivial like this but this casino is where most of the action is in town, and if I wanna move up from 1/2 this is the only casino which has has higher limits.

I've called the HR department but it just goes straight to voicemail, and they didn't return the one message I left them. I'm wondering if there's anything I can do because I'm a 22 yr old w/ no pull.

Call the security department and ask.

HR is for employees, not customers. Security would be your best bet, as Howard said.

no dont call. be a man and go to who or what dept. barred you and apologize and mean it. that works wonders in this world.

Can you physically enter the property to speak with security if you are banned from the casino?

Unless you were actually given a trespass by the cops, of course you can enter the property. Just go to the lobby and ask who you can talk to. Where you'll get in trouble is if you try to just play.

Just remember to be contrite and humble. Tell them you were brash and used poor judgement, you're sorry, and would like another chance. As long as you are an adult about it (and it was only a silly trash can prank like you said), they'll probably let you back.

another option is to just go back and play and if confronted apologise for what you did and say you thought it wasnt a forever ban..

I almost didn't post this because I'm sure Ray has light years more expertise about any possible situation that can happen in a poker room/casino that I do, but I cannot imagine this being a good idea. What would OP be hoping for, that they forgot he was banned, and it won't show up on the system when he gives them his ID or player's card?

I think bulls_horn's post is spot on.

Also question for the OP. (You don't have to answer on this thread, it's just for your benefit.) Were you drinking that night? If the answer is no, disregard anything further, but if the answer is yes, perhaps if you promise, (assuming you are willing and able to keep that promise) not to drink on their property (or even anywhere else before you show up there) it might help your cause.

This is not a crusade against drinking by any means, but when I was 22, if I ever did something like knock over a trash can, there was probably a good chance I had a few beers beforehand. Just right now a trivial wrong you did has put you in a crappy situation. Maybe this sort of gesture by you would help.

Re: How do I go about getting unbanned from a casino?

Like a lot of similar questions posted here, I think the OP has left out a number of details.

Knocking over a trash can seems like it could be an accident or it could have been part of a larger, more intense situation.

Most likely the ban came from security since Gaming wouldn't get involved in a trash can getting knocked over. That's good since Security can be more flexible.

OP, call the security manager, request, politely, a chance to meet with him and discuss the ban. Be polite (it bears repeating), be SINCERE, be concise, apologize, express remorse, promise to be mature and behaved next time. Admit you were wrong and say you were sorry. Ask for another chance.

I am aware I was redundant in my suggestion above, I meant to be. If you want to get a lifetime ban lifted, you need to accept responsibility for your actions and convince the person you are talking to that you know you were wrong and you will not do it again.

If this sounds like you are bending over backwards, so be it. They have nothing to gain by letting you back in to play poker. A single poker player brings very little to the casino in income. You apparently became more trouble than they feel you were worth.

If the above suggestions sound to onerous to the OP then he isn't ready to go back to the casino and the other patrons will be happier that he isn't there any longer.

Email is too easy. I would find out who is in charge of security and actually mail them a letter. Be incredibly polite, take full responsibility for your actions, show remorse and swear up and down that it will never happen again. Request a reply no matter what the answer is and at the end of the letter state that if they still have concerns that you would be happy to meet with them to show how sincere you are. Be sure to include a return address and a phone number.

If you haven't heard back 2 weeks after mailing the letter then call the person you addressed the letter to and inquire as to whether your letter was received. If he says yes, but that they have declined your request remain calm and politely ask if you could meet with him to show your sincerity.

if they carded you when they banned you then of course they wont forget. my last post was assuming if someone in charge of that situation just verbally banned you and you may never run into him again or he no longer cares.
if it was an offical banning then go and see someone.

Did you ever sign anything saying you were banned and would be trespassing if you ever came back? If not, I would honestly just wait a few weeks and go back as it's likely you're not even banned. A friend of mine works security and says they do this all of the time when they don't really have enough to ban you but they hate you and don't want you back causing any trouble.

Yes, I did sign a document stating that I had been banned for life from the casino, and I believe it was the property? manager who stated I would be arrested for trespassing if I entered the premise quite vehemently. So now I'm going to try set up a meeting with the security manager and apologize and see what happens. Thanks to everyone who posted advice.

If the Casino manager barred you, he has to clear you. Maybe starting with the head of Security will give you some clues on how to handle the Boss, but nobody in Security is going to un-bar you on their own.

And it does sound like there is a lot more to the story. It also seems that you had only been playing live for a month or so. Not a good way to start your casino playing career.

I'm thinking this isn't the best advice for anyone facing a similar problem.

While it is certainly possible that a player can be told he is banned while he isn't actually officially banned, it's also more likely that there is a ban in effect.

Casinos are private property. The owners and operators can choose who they serve and don't serve.

If a banned person decides to see what would happen, he can find himself asked to leave, professionally, or he can also be held for the police. Or, if they discover him there while banned, it could destroy any possibility that the ban could be lifted.

While a criminal change (for trespassing) might not be filed, it could be. Even a misdemeanor conviction can cause problems that last for years.

If someone tells you that you are banned, best to contact the security department and verify if it's an actual ban and how long it is for before you make a serious mistake that can't be fixed.

If a banned player hits a jackpot, they will want some ID, once the name trips a switch in a computer file, it's all over. No jackpot payout, possible free ride in a police car and more bad things to come.

This is very true. But if you start with Security and they know you are coming to see them, it's less likely that you will get arrested immediately.

More likely they will tell you how to contact the manager or they will tell you to stay away altogether, if they do that, it's something you should probably listen to.

OP, please update this thread with how it went. And if possible, please elaborate how this transcan got knocked over. Accidently bumped into it? Or drove your car intentionally into it?

There must be more to this story...

Chances are he got in a fight with someone and destroyed the trash can, or was being thrown out for being drunk and did that on his way out. Obviously he left those details out .

If you simply knocked it over by accident you probably wouldnt be banned so ...

Sounds like an excessive ban lol. Unless the specifically file why you got banned might be hard to get unbanned.

Give it 3 months from the ban then call security and let them know you were banned and ask who you should talk to regarding the matter. Show contrition, concise, and sensible regardless of how the conversation goes. If a negative response, try back after 6 months.

Re: How do I go about getting unbanned from a casino?

If you do get a meeting with someone about this, I'd recommend treating it like you were in front of a judge in court. In essence, you are. Wear appropriate business attire, etc. It won't hurt your appeal that you've learned from your mistake if you show up dressed like a professional. Also, don't call the person you meet with "dude". Mr. or Mrs. (Miss) is how you should address the individual. If this is too much, you don't want back in very badly.

Oh, one question you might want to have an answer for is: "how have your changed your behavior so we won't have a repeat of this incident?"

Remember, this meeting is about them, not you. How will having you back in their casino not cause them harm or be an annoyance?

Also, if you caused any damage, offer to pay for it.

Good luck!

This is correct as far as i see it. when your doing advantage plays in house games, a back off is basically just the casino asking you to leave. Unless you have been read the Trespass Act at some point, i think you are legally alright, even to just go sit down and play untill asked to leave. However, going in, talking to the person in charge is probably going to give you more longevity in said establishment. That and keeping in mind their devotion to the garbage cans on the premises.
