Will Foxwoods/Mohegan open a table for me and my friends? Will Foxwoods/Mohegan open a table for me and my friends?

I'm planning a bachelor party and the bachelor mentioned he wanted to play poker at some point. I'm wondering if anyone has gone to foxwoods or mohegan with 9 - 10 people and had a table opened for them.

What did they say when you called them to ask?

I'd imagine if they said no then they meant it. The only chance you'd have is if you set it up with the manager well in advance so they could be ready for it, but if you're only talking about an hour or less I doubt they'll make any special arrangements for you. I'd try a small card room if there are any in the area. Better chance that they will accommodate your request.

I've set up a custom table at a different casino, but in a situation where I knew the manager very well. We made it a mixed game, so there wasn't much risk of anybody else wanting to sit in, anyway. Still, I'm sure it was legally a bit sketchy.

Even if it's legal, a big reason casinos don't want to do it is because it rarely lasts very long. Our group said they wanted to play, were very passionate about it, but as it turned out only a few people really knew the game. Most got bored after an hour or two. Bustouts felt shamed in front of their peers and went off to drink instead of buy in again. Part of our deal was that we promised to tip the dealers very well.

You might have more luck with a private turbo tournament, especially if you work out a healthy dealer cut. You'll have far more luck if you do it during a shift that's less busy. 6pm on a Friday, ain't gonna happen.

Instead of going up and saying, "I want to do this thing, can you do it?" approach it with, "We'd like to do this thing, how do you suggest we go about it?" It's one step along in the conversation, one step removed from, "No." And it helps a lot if you're a regular customer and know the staff.

Ya when you go it might be worth a shot to ask someone but I am not sure if they do it or not. You could always just play a home game on a different nite or something and save rake/tips.

fwiw we set up private games at my room for people that schedule them just like you are intending OP, so there are casinos that do this.

For all that, you can probably find a home-game dealer to bring chips, etc to your party, then you don't have to worry about bothering with the casinos and their rake.

Imo, it's kinda selfish of your buddy to want to do this. Weddings are expensive enough for those in the party, why make everybody piss away money when there's probably only one or two real players like Pfap said.

I'd say a Sit & Go would be the way too go Foxwoods offer them.. would be cheaper then a full buy in for 1/2 and a more set time. Then you could hit a club after.

I agree. For our group, the groom was well-off, and two of his friends and I were the only ones who had any real clue about the game. I wasn't in the party, just the buddy-of-the-groom who happened to live in Vegas. As I was the person who organized the game, there was quite a bit of grumbling when I won half the chips on the table. These guys were horrible. Full of drunken tells and would pay off anything.

I agree with the sng option. One table and won't take forever. Also limits any issues of open seating and controls the financial cost.

You should over-rule his lame as and drag him to a strip club instead.

I've heard of local charity rooms in my area that'll run a semi-private game. (It technically has to be open seating, but when you fill all the seats immediately it's not a problem.) I've also seen parties get tables in the local casinos once or twice. But these didn't look planning, it would just be 6-8 people that all wanted to play walk into the room when there was an extra dealer handy.

If calling the room manager ahead of time doesn't work, you could always show up anyway and see what happens. If you've got a full table of players, and they've got an empty table, they'll probably hook you up.

I have definitely seen private sit and go's and 30 person bachelor party tournaments at Foxwoods. Call a casino host and not the poker room.

I had a private two-table sit & go at Foxwoods for a bachelor party once. I can't remember who I spoke to (was a few years ago) but it was organized well in advance and they didn't seem to make a big deal about it (tourney was played midnight on a Friday night for reference)
