Player a is playing NLHE and is facing a large bet. He asks the dealer to spread the pot so he can see what's in there, dealer says no. Player a calls the floor.
What's the ruling?

The rule is room dependant. Of course if Player A was paying attention, he'd know how much was in the pot and the situation doesn't arise.
