Hi everyone,

We're looking at making some changes throughout the forums - many have already happened in the strategy forums. Why? The main idea of this reorganization is to help the forums thrive by ensuring each one has sufficient traffic to make for good discussions, and to reduce confusion for members/visitors (especially new ones) when trying to find the right forum to post in, and/or topics of interest. Or, as Mat succinctly put it:

Quote:
what i want to see is a less confusing place for new users and an improved experience for existing users.
I've just created a thread in ATF with a potential overall reorganization plan:

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/55...ssion-1683262/

But I wanted to create a thread here that is more specific to LCP. You're welcome to give your feedback here or in ATF (or both if you have thoughts beyond LCP).

So to start with, we're looking at a new category along the lines of "Live Poker", rather than having LCP lumped into General Poker Discussion, with a confusing variety of other forums.

Home Poker seems like a logical fit in the same category. Also being considered is moving MTTc-Live into the same category - currently it's in with the Tournament strategy forums, when it's really all about upcoming live tournament discussion.

So if that were to go ahead, we'd be looking at something like this:

Live Poker
  • Live Casino Poker
  • MTTc - Live (renamed to something like Live Tournaments)
  • Home Poker

There has also been some additional discussion in the mod forum about some different options, like combining the subforums into one Poker Venues forum (do we still need Communities as a separate forum?), and making it a top-level forum instead. This was accompanied by the idea of renaming this forum to Rules & Etiquette. Then we'd be looking at:

Live Poker
  • Rules & Etiquette
  • Poker Venues
  • MTTc - Live (renamed to something like Live Tournaments)
  • Home Poker

These are just some ideas being kicked around at this point, although I hope the first set wouldn't be all that controversial (new Live Poker category).

Happy to have your feedback and suggestions.

It's an easy enough adjustment for current posters so if TPTB think it'll make it easier for newcomers, then go ahead.

All for this. My biggest problem with 2+2 has always been there's just way too many sub-categories. On top of, I can't even tell you how many good discussions have gotten going in a thread that are still very relevant to whatever it was posted in, and all of a sudden an admin comes in and says "We're moving this thread to (Insert random sub category 95% of people didn't even know existed)" and the thread dies.

Hopefully this will help with that, as they seem to be more clear cut. At least that's what I'm gathering from the initial post.

I like the idea of Home Poker being in this grouping. For whatever reason, when Brick and Mortar was changed to Live Casino Poker and moved higher on the list, I stopped visiting HP. If they were grouped together I would visit it more. (Yes, I know I just scroll past HP when I'm going other places but that's how it works for me.)

If this was renamed "Rules & Etiquette" how would I know where to go if I didn't like some behavior at a home game?

Some other possibilities
  • Favorite Angle Shots
  • Worst Rulings Since the Big Bang (or the Creation, if that's your thing)
  • Florida and UK poker room follies

I think if you rename this forum to rules and etiquette, and not leave a forum for general discussion of live poker, Then threads like the chip stack thread, the weirdest/dumbest things you've seen/done in a casino threads, and live poker pet peeves would never get created because they aren't about rules and etiquette exactly. And those are some of the most viewed threads in lcp.

I don't *think* the idea was to change the contents of the forum, but to give it a more suitable name. I also have concerns that that name might give people the wrong idea, but would like to hear more feedback - other name suggestions are certainly welcome.

"Live Casino Poker" is a little vague, and perhaps somewhat redundant under a category of "Live Poker". It would be nice to have a name that was a little more descriptive of the contents, but it might be tricky to get right.

Either way, it's really the overall reorganization idea that's the most important one of all to get feedback on. It's quite simple to change a name later; rolling back forum moves/merges can be a little more disruptive.

Instead of Rules and Etiquette, it should be named something more general like Live Poker, since there are much more topics discussed in LCP besides rules and etiquette that don't fall in any of the proposed categories.

Home Poker forum is contantly a mix of rake free friendly game comments and raked underground postings ( raked games played in a home). I have never let that bother me at all , but some posters object a bit about mixing them up. Maybe there could be a way to identify raked and unraked home game posts. Personally I host an unraked game, but I often get insight from posters questions and comments on their raked home games. Likely not a big deal here, but just my observation on the Home Game Forum.

I rarely go to venues or regional communities directly since I see any activity in the ones I follow in my subscribed link section. Consider leaving the 'community' name in there somewhere as it really does apply to the Midwest area ...

1) The 3 casinos in Detroit don't each need their own thread for sure
2) West Michigan doesn't even have a casino with poker .. only charity rooms
3) Firekeepers Casino thread is starting to grow on it's own
4) Chicago area thread covers everything except Horseshoe Hammond (which has it's own thread) .. that is a good thing.

Although I think combining 'venues' and 'areas' is OK for a forum tab I think the 'subscribe' tab trumps the need to go into those forums directly for most reg users anyway.

Also, It seems that when I go to LLSNL I see a lot of online hands. Is there a way to separate online and live hand review requests? GL

As long as you de-mod Rapini, whatever other changes you want to make will be fine.

To be fair to Rapini, it's been a lot better since the other mods (dinesh, browser2920) have joined. Maybe he was just overloaded.

Dinesh has been keen on the "the way these threads usually go is like this: on one side people say ____ and on the other side people say ____."

Those types of responses are pretty helpful and should probably be made into a FAQ or something.

Feel free to share these thoughts in the ATF thread about the reorg. This thread is specifically about LCP not other forums.

Giving this a bump for any more thoughts. Likely to move on the overall forum reorganization in the next few weeks; reorganization within LCP could happen either with that or we could hold off on subforum changes until later if we wanted.

What would everyone think of the following redesign?

> Live Poker [This would be simply the title of the section like Two Plus Two, Fantasy Sports, General Poker, etc., and not a forum.]
Rules & Etiquette
Venues
Communities [This forum would combine threads from Regional Communities and MTTc and also allow for trip reports, low-content threads, etc.]
Home Poker

Home Poker games don't have rules and etiquette?

If you have Home Poker, is it so bad to have B&M --> LCP --> Casino Poker?
