If you can convince a good player that you suck, telling really lame bad beat stories is a good way to go about it. Make it really standard, like, "This guy called me with a flush draw! And then hit a runner-runner set!" (always refer to trips as "a set" for maximum trollolol)

You can also squeeze in some fake humblebragging into a lame bad beat story. Like, if you're viewed as tight, highlight how tight you are by saying, "So this guy raised and I folded TT and the board ran out T98m-T-2 and it turns out he had QJs for the straight flush, would have had a BBJ if I had known the guy was bad enough to raise queen high or I sucked enough to call TT." And if you're viewed as loose, say, "So I raise 53s and this guy calls A4, I flop a straight flush with 642m and he folds to my all-in bet, I ask the dealer to rabbit hole and it runs out 4-4, stupid idiot folding second pair."

Yes! Love Name That Tune. I'm especially sharp between 1966-1986.

Music is usually my go-to.

No more bad beat stories...please.

Discussing the bad beat jackpot, how much is in the jackpot, and how much the casinos take for the jackpot. It is also great to tell stories of all the times you almost won the bad beat/how you were only one card away. This will get the table alive.

You can also get reads on players by discussing the bad beat. If some guy starts talking about how it will never hit and how much he has put in the jackpot over the years he is a huge nit. If he turns to you and asks in a hushed tone "hey, if you have a bad beat hand let's see a flop OK? No chopping then" he is almost undoubtedly a massive whale. If he asks what the bad beat jackpot is and isn't trolling set up a tent.

So in summary, the jackpot should almost always be discussed at least once per session, but ideally more than that. Great table conversation starter.

I love talking about my dog...but then I get the urge to just quit the game and drive home.

Greyhounds are a beautiful breed.
