Lol what a dream situation for Ivey, set vs obvious QQ+ for ferguson

I love how Ferguson was up 150k beforee the hand and gets felted

honestly, what was Ferguson hoping for.... KK?

Ivey plays it like any of us here would and gets laid for 250k

honestly on the flop I would muck the aces, Ivey is the one capable of bluff raising the flop with 78s but if I were Ferguson i would realizing Ivey is check raising this with a monster

I think they both played the hand right personally...Chris Ferguson got trapped basically...with a flop like that it's hard to fold aces even if you do put your opponent on a possible set...

And that was obviously a very easy hand/read for Ivey because he knew Ferguson either had queens, kings, or aces and that Ferguson would basically be trapped...

Ivey is never bluffing after he puts in over 25k Preflop, Ferguson is strictly a math player and will never fold AA after he puts in over 25k Preflop. If Ivey don't hit he's instafolding, Ivey is never making a play here...

Especially, after the flop. Once Ferguson calls Iveys big raise and puts in half his stack it's obvious he has a big pair... Then why would Ivey bluff again on the turn knowing Ferguson is committed... FOLD

Must be nice to get laid and make $250k in the process.

You know you're a super mega ***** nit when every single notable hand you have ever played on TV, you're holding either AA or AK, *cough* Lederer, *cough* Ferguson.

So much wrong in this thread.

The reason why Ivey got paid off here is BECAUSE he has shoved on bluffs in the past for insane money.

Of course its easy to sit back, see the cards and say, "Oh, this is such an easy fold" when in reality, you are up againt an incredible player who can make moves for a Million dollars without breaking a sweat...

I wish the hand would have played out without us seeing the cards though. It kinda annoys me how when everyone sees the cards and the board how everyone suddenly becomes poker genuises quick to critique world class pros...

I dont really see how a strict math and theory based pro puts all that money in with 1 pair. Is that long term +EV? maybe since he has millions but I dont think so.

This.

Ferguson had to call here. There's 60,000 in the pot and he only has about 225,000.

Ivey's bluff vs Oppenheimer early in the latest Poker After Dark demonstrates why.

Ferguson should never fold here. He has 43% equity against a range of kk+ and all sets. I don't see ivey ever folding kk here since fergusons range is qq+ (with occasional ak or jj) but he's almost certainly folding qq and he's never bluffing. If u take all that into account, foldin is actually -ev (doesn't even take into account small chance ivey overplays qq or bluffs). Ironically if ferguson has kk here he only has 11% equity on flop so obvious fold

Idk why ferguson plays these games though. Sure he probably gets paid to play but it won't make up for the times he constantly gets outplayed or only gets action when he's beat since his range is often face up to pocket pairs and aq+ all the time
