A cash advance generally works differently than regular charges. First, there is an immediate fee. Second, the interest starts accruing immediately. On regular charges, if you pay the full statement balance on the due date, there is no interest and the interest only starts accruing on the due date if you do not pay the full balance. This is not true for cash advances. The interest on cash advances starts accruing immediately upon your taking the cash advance and not on the due date for that statement. Third, the interest rate is usually higher than the interest rate for regular charges.
