I have seen this time and time and time again regarding equipment the staff is using.

Oh, MANAGEMENT isn't using it? Well then guess what's going to be done about it?

$2-4 LHE, where all the best stories come from:

Seat 5 is in the habit of releasing his bet, but not promptly removing his hand from the betting area, making it a little tough for Seat 6 to know when it's his turn.

They are both talking to the waitress when the action gets to them, and even though their attention is divided, they manage to act properly and in turn.

Seat 6 turns his attention back to the game, sees Seat 5 still has cards, and does not see 5's bet (because 5's hand is obstructing his view of it). He tries to grab back his folded cards, and starts apologizing for acting out of turn. A moment after that, he realizes that this correction was unnecessary, and starts explaining himself and apologizing again.

SEAT 6: I thought I acted out of turn.

YTF: Don't worry. If you did anything wrong, SOMEONE would have yelled at you by now!

Came into work today and the first down is the 4/8 Omaha game. I like dealing Omaha even to our regular grumpy nits however I dont like starting my day dealing it.....it usually starts the night on a sour note.

But to my surprise pushing into the game it is a nice mix of loose players who are there to gamble and a few of our nicest Omaha regs.....it was nice having fun and dealing a fairly juicy Omaha game to start the day it also happened to be my best down of the night.

Of course by the next time I push into the game the action players have busted and the regular nits have taken over but it was fun while it lasted.

Waiting to push into a game, watching an enormous pot break out. At the end, AA loses to T6o. AA starts barking at T6o, telling him how lucky he is, demanding to know how he could call with that--the usual, standard stuff.

T6o isn't even done dragging the pot when he asks the dealer if someone could bring him some racks. I'm still standing, haven't pushed in yet, and I'm right next to a bin full of racks, so I hand him a fistful.

I push in, and T6o is UTG. He's surprised he was dealt in, he thought his intent to quit was clear. He folds without looking, and tells me he's out. The way he's handling his chips, it's clear that he's new to casino poker. He's got a ton of chips, it takes him a few hands to rack up. He finally stands to leave, and I give him a "Thanks for playing with us!" He blinks. It may have been the first positive thing he heard all day.

After he left, the guy who had his Aces cracked, grumbled, "What a hit and run THAT was!"

And all I could think was, "If you don't want him to leave, maybe you should stop yelling at him!"

Later that night, I saw Mr T6o in a much smaller game. It was late, many of the players were drinking, and all were having a good time. One floated the idea of adding a kill to the game, and most of the table thought that was a great idea. T6o didn't know what that meant, and a few of the drunks rushed to explain it to him, and that went predictably: all the know-it-alls hit him with so much information, so fast, he couldn't possibly absorb any of it. They were eager and excited to show off how smart they were and how they knew, and each tried to talk faster and louder than the next guy.

Again, Mr T6o asked for some racks.

The smiles around the table disappeared. No one was trying to run this guy off. And it wasn't even a "don't tap the glass" thing, they really were all about having fun, and hated to see that they had done something to ruin the fun this guy was having. They immediately concurred to drop the kill idea, so this guy wouldn't worry about it.

The fun immediately resumed, and the player next to him took a more relaxed, casual approach to explain it to him over several minutes, instead of mainlining all the info in one shot. By the time I got pushed out, they sold it to him, and we added the kill on my last hand of the down.

I love this guy. I hope everybody racks up and leaves when mistreated by the other players. It may be the only way we get these players to treat each other decently.

Just dealt first 2 tables of the night. Both games were full of smiling, chatty, positive players.

WHY CAN'T IT ALWAYS BE LIKE THIS?

Sometimes when I'm chopping a pot, I'll tell the winners, "Take back your last bets." Usually, I go with the much simpler, "Start grabbing!"

One comedian who wasn't even in the hand thought it would funny to reach out and grab the main pot with both hands. He didn't actually *touch* any of the chips, but it was way too close for comfort, for too long, from a guy who knows better (but doesn't care what other people think, as long as he's cracking himself up).

I abort stacking, and move to push his hands away, but he retreats in a nick of time, chirping, "What? You said 'Start grabbing'! Amiright? Amiright? He said 'Start grabbing!'"

I just stare at him for a moment (an uncomfortable moment, as everyone gets uncomfortable when the game stops). As I go back to chopping the main, I tell him, "Reach for that pot again, they'll be 'grabbing' YOU!"

Guy at the table tells the old joke about the couple in the casino elevator:

Quote:
HUSBAND: What do you mean, you lost $300?

WIFE: You lost $6,000!

HUSBAND: I know how to gamble!
No one laughs. Maybe it's an old joke everyone's heard. More likely, the problem was the guy turned it into a ten-minute ordeal (I gave a much shorter version above).

He had a weak hand, so i raised:

Quote:
YTF: Oh, you want a casino elevator joke? Guy in the elevator has his wife by the throat, and says (menacing, threatening voice) "Gimme the ****ing money I told you not to give me!"

The waitress arrives. "Who needs Service?"

Guy with ridiculous sunglasses starts looking around frantically. "Service is here? Where's Service at?" He almost breaks his neck, scanning in all directions 2-3 times, and somehow not seeing the person standing just about right in front of him.

I couldn't help myself:

YTF: What are those, eclipse glasses?

So I guess on Saturday our players card system went down and the players were not earning their dollar an hour and the system would not be up and running until Monday. However when the system was restored all money accrued will be credited plus an extra $5.

You would have thought the world was ending however, all of the grumpy nits were freaking out losing their minds over the precious $1/hr being temporarily lost. It was the talk of the room on Saturday and Sunday......the normal 4/8 omaha game that starts early Sunday morning never got going....apparently $1/hr is the biggest perk we over (never mind aces cracked, high hands, splash pots.......

Well Monday came and the system was back up and running and like promised everyone got their accrued points plus the extra bonus but of course that didnt stop the angle shooters from saying they got screwed out of money my poor floor super spent half of yesterday printing up Bravo reports for the dozen nits who thought they played more than they really did and sure enough everyone of them was wrong.

That reminds me of 2 stories about one of my regular crabby limit players. I know, redundant...

One day he was checking his hours on our kiosk and said that it didn't update from his play that day (he had gotten up about 30 minutes prior). He was starting to get upset and I was trying to calm him down and check it out on my end. I figured out that the dealer clocked out the wrong player. This guy usually sits in Seat 1 or 10, but this time was in 9. The dealer clocked out seat 10 instead of 9. When I looked, this guy was still on the game, which is why his hours didn't update. So I explain to him what must have happened with the added bonus that he got 30 free minutes! Whoo-hoo!! But he was still pissed because the dealer made a mistake.

Another day the same guy came up and had a question about his comps (we give 50 cents/hour). He didn't think his comps went through the day before. He played 7 hours but he only had less than $1 additional on his card. He keeps complaining that things aren't working right and we should fix it. As I get into the system on my end to investigate (and note that he has $350 on his card) he finally adds a bit of information to the story...

Spoiler:
"All I did was get a bowl of soup!"

So in my poker room we are allowed to play in our room and when I first started we use to have a 4/8 or 5/10 mix game that would spread every other week generally on payday (Thursdays) or on Monday nights (a majority of our room works Thursday-Monday) and while the game would be open to anyone it generally would be mainly dealers and staff. We would even have dealers show up from other casinos and join in....it was a fun and really action packed game and of course the alcohol flowed pretty good during this game. Generally the game would go until a little after alcohol stopped and we would stagger up to a hotel room that somebody would get and pass out until morning.

Well we had the traditional game going one night and it was wild....probably the wildest game I have ever dealt to this day, everyone was probably in for $3-500 with at least a $50 bar tab for everyone. I got to join in when I got off for the night and it was fun. Well it was getting late and our last cash game had broken for the night and so a couple of our grumpy regulars who still wanted to play got into the game. (Our rule as employees is we have to give up our seat, even if off the clock to a guest who wants to play) Since I was the least stuck and the least drunk of the group I got up to give grumpy A and grumpy B a seat.

Of course the crazy game raged on but after awhile grumpy A & B were throwing a huge fit that every hand was capped pre flop and they felt everyone was ganging up on them (this was normal for the game). So after a few rounds we were on the Badugi round (game consisted of Omaha hi/lo, Stud, Razz and generally badugi)(this was explained to the two before they joined) now the two grumps were in the stratosphere claiming we were making up games to take all their money claiming in 20 years of poker they have never heard of this game. After ten minutes of bitching they finally rack up and leave and we thought this was the end of it.

So we show up to work a few days later and apparently our room manager at the time decided to no longer let us spread the game because he got too many complaints from other players because we were too loud and drunk (which was true...we would drink and we would be loud) but mainly because grump A & B complained thinking we were colluding against them.

What made me and others mad about everything was that our room manager worked Monday-Friday 9-5 so decisions made by him as far as promotions and what not were to benefit the group of 10-15 players in the morning at the expense of the majority of players in our room. So because of the two players one of our most popular game was nixed. We tried to tell him that other guests who would play in it once in awhile would never have problems with the game, most who played in fact enjoyed the action but because of those two it was no more.

Low-limit game, two players see the turn. Second player bets out of turn. I say nothing, as usual in this spot--almost every single time, if I back it up, the first player is either going to check because he's cowed by the bet, or check to take the guaranteed check-raise, and pushing back this bet is a big waste of time.

First player is rattled. He's unsure why he was skipped, and even more unsure of how to proceed. He asks me. I begin to list his options, when I'm interrupted by the bettor. "He checked."

"No sir. I'm sitting right next to him, and I was watching and listening very carefully. He did not check." He never spoke, and his hands never moved.

The bettor repeats a few more times, defensively, that he coulda swore "he checked". He seems insulted that we would think he is responsible for this out-of-turn action.

I'm ignoring him now, because it doesn't matter who thought what, I gotta get this game moving again. the first player finally decides to fold, so I push the pot to the bettor, who launches into Act III of "He checked!"

I point to the pot and concede, "OK, fine, he checked. Take the money!", in a "What more do you want?" tone of voice while literally throwing up my hands a little.

The table LOL'd.

Young cocktail waitress flirting back with a $20-40 player is bragging on her new BMW. Mentions another waitress just bought a brand new Lexus.

This may be the dumbest thing I've ever seen a tipped employee do.
