Maybe but it also means on days when you don't give a ****, you don't get punished financially for it.

I think the flip side that most everyone in the thread are focused on is that on days when you DO give a ****, you can do pretty well.

Is there some optimal way of keeping track of pot size when there's a sidepot in PLO? Like, do you start making the sidepot and figure the total pot size in the process, or do you figure out the total pot and store that number before even making the sidepot?

ive only worked in 1 room where the floor was allowed to be tipped by staff (not my current room) and it was a temp job... I felt awkward because I didn't know how much was appropriate. Ive worked in like 6 rooms and that was the only one where floor got tipped by staff.

How would you feel if you had happened to see a player give a floor a $20 bill or a green chip then that same floor came to your table a few hours later to make a ruling in a pot contested by you and the player that had tipped him earlier? It just seems like a huge conflict of interest to me.

I have nothing against the floors making as much as possible but the money should be coming from the casino not the dealers.

And what does this have to do with dealers tipping out the floor staff?

A casino shouldn't mandate that front line employees have to tip out their supervisors.

If the casino wants their supervisors to make more, let them pay it. Forcing the dealers to take on the burden of increasing the supervisors pay is bull****.

FWIW There's exactly one supervisor where I work that I would absolutely tip and that's because I know how much be busts his ass running the daily tournaments. The cash game supervisors just stand around schmoozing players for tips, they do absolutely nothing to warrant being tipped out by dealers.

Add Mother's Day to the list of days where the only folks in the cardroom are those with families that want nothing to do with them. Every single down tonight has been more about "Who Can Be The Biggest Jerk?", than about poker.

Actual quote: "Sir, you have single-handedly RUINED this game!", to a player who wouldn't fold 53o when it was capped preflop.

Staying at TI-Vegas first week of July ... Anyone want to be 'found' or at least tell me your location so I can try to wander through and check out your workplace. I'm usually pretty easy to spot from my hat that I'll probably be wearing. (See Twitter)

Wife sets travel plans .. but would love to have an 'in' on some show tickets, especially 'Cirque De Soleil' shows .. With the WSOP winding down I know all of you will be in just chipper moods that week!! Look forward to any contact .. GL

I don't disagree that mandatory tipping is wrong.

And I can even make an argument that tipping out some supervisors is problematic ..... DC's could be accused of favoritism based on tipping and certainly if staff has direct control over discipline over dealers the tipping could be considered a conflict of interest.

But I don't see any issues with tipping out floors wth lesser influence over the dealing staff such as those who are primarily seating players, moving players, making, poker rulings, filling out paperwork....

I see no such issues with tipping out support staff like chip runners, list attendants, cashiers.

Shall we start a "Bitching about the WSOP" containment thread?

For those of you not in Vegas, does the WSOP make your rooms noticeably slower? If so, how much would you say?

It definitely hurts our daily tourneys and mid-limit games.

"Where is everybody (all the regs)?"

"Joe's out there for a week. Jim is heading out there tomorrow. John gets back this weekend..."

It' doesn't hurt *much*, but it is noticeable. I'm in the midwest.

When I was on the east coast, you'd definitely see the higher limit games dry up for a month or more. It even impacted our 2/5 nl games to a lesser extent. Not sure how it will play out in my current room in SoCal as I haven't been here during WSOP time yet.

I would have lost a lot of money betting that I'd never deal Crazy Pineapple hi/lo 8 or better on back to back days.

I think it is normally a hi/lo game.

I think I've seen it spread in 3 different rooms in the area where I live, but always as high-only.

Hrmmm. I don't know if I have ever seen it as high only. I know when I was at the Bike it was spread only a daily basis. The 3-6 ran daily, the 6-12 ran I would say most days (or maybe daily and just not always on my shift) and never anything larger than a 9-18.

Now that I think about it, when I was in Colorado, we had a dealer's choice game and it might have been a choice (I don't remember all the choices).
