I'm working on deciphering the colorful hint about his specific location like it's The DaVinci Code.
Spoiler:

(I've narrowed it down to somewhere between Columbus and Ann Arbor.)

It's safe to say all (perhaps only 'virtually all') online sites do it this way, and ime have for years. I play on multiple sites both Europe and N America, so i doubt it's a regional thing.

Yes, that is the way it used to be in NL games. The last time I checked (over 10 years ago now) the very largest games still did it that way. In the old days there just weren't nits involved in NL, so nobody cared about missing blinds and such things. The genesis of this is that games were dealt by the players (going way back to before my time and before they were playing in casinos) so the deal went around the table and the people after the dealer put up blinds to start the action.

Lmao! It's really easy.. what state (really it's just one large city) has black and silver, red and blue, orange and blue and 2 teams with red and black sport team colors!
As a female speaking to mostly what I would presume are men I figured that would be super easy for you guys! Also I was bored and didn't want it to be searchable. Just started ya know. Lol.

You thought men would have a city's teams' colors as one of the top clues?

I got offered a full time job at Commerce. Anybody here ever work there? So far I'm finding the tokes at Oceans 11 to be a little underwhelming compared to my last job on the east coast so I'm wondering if a change of scenery might be better financially.

Also $4-$8 limit Omaha h/l is the most soul-sucking game ever - and I've only dealt it 3x - those people are f' ing brutal. I actually lost money on one of those downs...

I think (but don't know) that Commerce will pay better. The level of abuse at Commerce will be much higher.

"black and silver", my brain couldn't get past the OAK Raiders, who not in the Midwest. Google mentioned SA Spurs and CHI White Sox, but conceded that calling the Sox' colors "black and silver" would be a stretch.

(Also, I've spent the past 50 years thinking those Bears jerseys were black, but Google says navy blue. I've also spent that same amount of time thinking there is nothing blue about navy blue.)

Pretty sure it's Chicago. Once you wrap your mind around the fact that the post mentions 5 teams, it becomes pretty clear.

If I put it in black and white for the sox you wouldn't be able to see it. Lol. Silver what the next best. But yes, we have 5 pro teams. Bulls, blackhawks, bears, sox, cubs. Bulls and hawks both black and red. But our rake is super high, just not close enough to the Indiana border to deal over there. We also have to pool our tips.

Well considering the field was narrowed already, saying that your rake is super high gives it away.

Hey neighbor! Do you deal at Aurora? If so, surprised you haven't left yet as they all seem to leave and go to Elgin. I also heard aurora charges for its poker school? Is that correct?

OK, I'd like to ask you all about something that literally just happened on the last down I was dealing, which I just got on break from 7 minutes ago. I'm literally sitting in the EDR at my work right now, still a little stressed out about what just happened. It's not a major deal, but it was just really awkward and uncomfortable and I'm curious what some of my fellow dealers, players and poker people might think about this situation that just transpired.

I was dealing a $3-$300 Spread Limit Hold 'em game and the guy in the 2 seat is going to be the button for the hand I'm about to deal. About the time that I am putting the deck in the shuffler, to grab the other deck to deal the next hand, the guy in the 2 seat gets up and goes to get himself some coffee, which is literally like 20 or 25 feet behind the table. So, I assume that he is going to get himself some coffee and that he will be right back, to be able to play his hand on the button, so I deal him in. Of course, he doesn't come back in time to play his button, so I just end up mucking his hand.

Well, as I should have known was going to happen, two players get in a big hand, one of them gets snapped off, he's all in and loses all his money, and then gets really pissed off at me, because I dealt the button in when the guy wasn't at the table. The guy who lost had a AQ, and there was a Q on the Flop, and the guy he lost to had QJ, and after they got all the chips and on the flop, of course, a ****ing J came on the turn.

So, the guy steps away from the table and is obviously irritated and upset, but he just looks like he's a little frustrated, and not really pissed off or bothered by the bad beat. However, he proceeds to come back to the table like a minute or two later, and then stands at the empty table right by the one I'm dealing at, and then stays there and stares at me for, literally, like 4 or 5 minutes. And he's standing there mumbling somewhat quietly almost the entire time, while shooting me dirty looks and staring at me. He then walked around to a different table on the other side of the table I'm dealing on, and proceeded to stand there and continue to stare at me while talking **** someone under his breath.

Several of the players are commenting on how he was so upset, and for what they perceive to be no good reason, and he's close enough while standing at the other table, that he hears this, and they don't realize that it's him who's standing there still, because it's now been like 10 minutes since he got up from the table, and he starts saying something to them about how they don't even know why he's pissed off, and I explain to the table that he's actually pissed off because I dealt in the button while he was away from the table getting himself some coffee. So, after the guy stands around the table fir like 10 minutes total, I hit the 'S' button on Bravo to call my supervisor over, only for the guy to finally walk away like 15 seconds later, so he's obviously not there when my supervisor walks up.

So, what I want to ask is, do you guys/gals think what I did by dealing the button in was really out of line? A little out of line? Or not out of line at all? I thought I was being courteous by dealing the button in, being that he was literally like 20 or 25 feet away from the table, at most, and was obviously getting himself some coffee. But, the guy had to notice that I dealt the guy in on the button when he wasn't there, and he specifically brings up how he "knew this was going to happen", alluding to howl those cards wouldn't have been dealt to the two players who ended up getting involved in the pot, and he wouldn't have lost all his chips with the AQ vs the QJ.

I'm really curious what some of you all think about this? If some of you guys would like to share your opinion on this, I would really appreciate getting some feedback about this situation. Thanks!

P.S. I'm on break for about the next 15 minutes, so I'm really hoping the guy is not still up in the poker when I go back up to do my next table in 15 minutes. If he is, I will plan on coming back and updating at the red when I get another break or after I get home from work in a few hours.

Notice he wasn't upset by it until he lost. He didn't object when you dealt the button in .... he only objects because he lost. That should tell you all you need to know.

In general I think it's best to assume that a player 'near' the table will make it back for the next hand and you should deal him in ... especially in the SB or B positions. The courtesy you show will be much more received than the wrath you may get from a complaining player or a bad beat.

Depending on your room dynamic and your history with the player you could verbally check with them as they walk away?

Although 'random is random' when it comes to the cards you should realize by now that poker is very much a results orientated world.

Kudoz on waiting a few minutes before calling over the Floor .. fine line between a cool off period and making the situation worse by calling over more people 'to share' in the moment. GL

Considering the high limit games in that casino allow a player to be dealt in no matter where they are, and if you didn't deal him in you would have to correct the button and adjust the blinds, which is just a waste of time. Don't worry about it. People like being upset and blaming anyone but themselves and don't understand probability and statistics and basic math.
