I'm a Biloxi native and I've played all of the casinos down here with the exception of Boomtown (the only casino around that still allows smoking in the poker room) and I play regularly at the IP.

The Beau has the most action most of the time, but I absolutely hate the time drop. If you want to play PL Omaha, 2/5NL, or 5/10NL the Beau on a Friday or Saturday night is about your only shot.

Throughout the holidays the IP has been running about four 1/2 NL tables and three 4/8 tables during the week. Last weekend we had all ~20 tables packed. As far as comps go, I've heard it stated that the comp rate in the IP poker room is around $2/hr.

Sweet! I still can't believe we'll have a poker room in this town.

I am planning a trip to Biloxi and decided on IP due to thier room rates(on expedia they are like $55 a night mon thru fri).

How are the games during the week usually?

Does anyone have any experience playing online using the IP's free wifi?
Do they block poker sites?

y beau sux too.. i had it and it comped as well but i prefer AC buffets.. the food is edible here but has no taste.. boomtown was better, less selection but it wwas tastier

yeah i wouldnt wanna put up with that for sure. but can stud ever be found in biloxi anywhere anymore? probably not.

where can u find a really cheap room by the week there? didnt all the low cost motels get totally destroyed in the hurricane and the only ones still standing be the expensive ones in the casinos? and they dont have cheap rates like vegas.

havent been there in about 5-6 years. id like to hear about ALL the poker rooms in biloxi in this thread not just the beau, IP and hardrock. what about the isle of capri, the grand, the lady luck, the copa, and the president and treasure island, and boomtown. wheres the absolute cheapest NL buyin? any for $40-60 instead of $100? those rooms all close down after the hurricane or something?

UDATE ON PENSACOLA GREYHOUND TRACK

Just like RojoGrande said The Pensacola Greyhound Track will be opening soon. I called the track today and was told that it is sheduled to open January 27th. The person I spoke with did not know the limits or any other information. She seemed to be quite busy as she told me she had to get to customers lined up in front of her.

Also, like RadGrad2005 stated, the buy in max amount of $100 can be a drawback. When a player makes a mistake, it's better to stack them for $500 or $1000 than the small buy-ins.

The positives are there is more poker in the area.

This is way off base. Sounds like someone got stacked a few times. The Beau is by far the best room and the games are definitely the juicest as they are all table stakes games and there is no max buy in. The IP is maybe the only other place to play. Try them all out though.

Play 5 hours a day and they comp you to like 99 bucks on the weekend. I think its less if you book way in advance.

I play there everyday (2/5) and absolutely love it.

The room is classy. Staff and (most) dealers are great. I even love the food (but I'm not picky about food anyway).

What's with all you nits hatin' the time drop? Time drop is to the advantage of the better players at the table. I know someone's gonna ask why so I guess I'll explain... With a $6/half-hour time drop, everyone pays the same amount to the house, good players, bad players, everyone. With raked pots, as opposed to the time drop, the good players are paying more to the house than the bad players are, because they're winning more (and bigger) pots. Therefore, more of THEIR money is being raked. Bad players are losing those pots and therefore paying less rake.

Also, time-drop kinda promotes a looser style. If you're paying by the hour, might as well play more hands, right?

The only thing I don't like about the time drop is when people bitch at me for taking my time to make a tough decision, but that's rarely happens.

charge is a big ripoff compared to paying a rake, but the higher ups in the management will do whatever brings in the most revenue over the short term, instead of whats in the best interests of the players. thats why u see players complain a lot when a place charges time in a $1-2 NL game, thank God few casinos do and none in the vegas area.

the time charge saves the fishy loose player money though--since he wins tons of pots. the player who gets hurt is the solid, winning, very tight guy playing to WIN. for this guy may win on average 1 pot every 2 hours. and in a game with a rake he might be out $3-5. (depending on size of pot). but in a game with a $8 half hr time charge(like the WSOP), he pays $32. EVEN THOUGH HE ONLY WON ONE LOUSY POT.

This is why fish and donkeys love time charges so much, and people who are good enough to make money at poker seriously hate it. hope this explains to ur satisfaction.

P.s. as much as i hate time charges, i would like them if i was playing in los angelos, simply cause the way they rake the pot upfront instead of at the end is far far worse. often the pot is won by a bet and fold on 4th or 5th street, and it wouldnt even be max rake, but max drop is taken anyway just cause its cali.

winning only 1 pot in a 2 hour period, or none, happens all the time to solid players who dont play junk.

^^^^^ If you're playing so tight that you're only winning 1 pot every 2 hours you might need to think about opening up your game. You're leaving so much money out there.

How many poker tables does hard rock biloxi have compared to beau rivage biloxi?

How close are the Hard Rock and Beau Rivage ? Which has the best swimming pool? I was thinking of stayin at the hard rock but playing at Beau Rivage but where to stay may come down to the pool for my daughter.....

Hard Rock has a great pool (Guitar Shaped), and a younger crowd (more 20ish people). Biggest thing is if you are playing a lot of poker you can get the poker rate at Beau really easily 79 weekday 99 weekend pretty sure which is hard to pass up. Rooms at Beau are nice and standard Vegas style room but Hard Rock's rooms are very nice.

Edit:They are right next to each other, walking distance maybe 3 minute walk.

This may be a dumb question, has the oil spill afffected the traffic in the local poker rooms? Has it affected the tourism industry yet ? I may be headed that way next week or avoid it ?

Does anyone know if the IP has a poker rate and, if so, what is it and how many hours of play does it require?
