Update...

Harrahs philadelphia/chester now has a reg 5/10 full kill game. It runs fri & sat from late afternoon til ??? and occasionally on sundays evenings. Kill is set at 100 but often gets lowered to 80. The drawback to this game is that it can be a rock garden. Otoh you get free alhcohol since its considered a "higher stakes" game.

This is true. Very true

I wonder why o8 attracts these angry low lives?

In my opinion, its always better to be properly bankrolled regardless of the limit, because, when you take shots, you might tend to play scared, which is not surprising being that you'd be playing on a scared bankroll. From what ive witnessed over the years, the only times that I've actually seen players take a short bankroll and sit in a bigger game, and actually run it up to unthinkable numbers--- they all had the same thing in common: they were all thrill seekers---win or lose it really never boiled down to the money because the gamble and the possibility of losing the bankroll, was what drove them there in the first place.

Of course, with the nature of poker, you can go on a major heater by taking a shot at the 10/20 even if you weren't a 'thrill seeker' type, and, you could very well build a nice respectable BR. Depends what you're looking to do, what'll make feel good, what your goal is etc., and lets face it, you'll have to get lucky because short term can go either way for you even if you're a great player.

Personally, I wouldn't take a shot if the money that you currently possess is very important and/or you don't have good means to replace it.

I don't know where you live so it might be pointless to list any games for you, but as a general overall observation?... At those limits(esp. $4/8) I think you'll be ok in any game throughout the US. I've played in many low limit OE games across the country and they've all been pretty much the same: two grumpy old nits, and the rest who possessed different degrees of bad.

My home casino (Rivers in Pittsburgh PA) has recently started running a fairly regular S/OE 10/20 game. It's full kill, and timed rake.
I haven't had the chance to check it out yet, it runs on tuesday and thursday.

What does S/OE mean? Does it alternate Stud and Omaha H/L?

Yeah Stud 8b, and Omaha 8b.
Not 100% sure on the rotation, but I believe it switches when they do dealer changes and drops (so every 1/2 hour).

It would be more usual to switch every orbit, which may well be just about every half hour.

Harrahs and Parx do every dealer change/half hour. Borgata does every 8 hands. Dealer change def is easier on the dealers. # of hands prob helps keeping players from taking a half hour break when they're on a round they don't like as much.

the 10/20 OE game at harrahs AC is like disneyworld relatively. They smile sometimes and I've even made friends.

Disclaimer: I am in my 20's and probably am instantly labeled with whatever synonym east cost O8 regs use for dousche bag. I'm no pro though, just love poker and usually drink lots and am just looking for a good time but get lumped into the "thinks he's a pro grinder blah blah" way too often .
I play in the Borgata game once every other month or so but have been doing so for years (and the Taj before that). Total agree with everything you are saying and I'm "young" for that crowd at 52 years old.
The one big plus is that when you start winning some of them totally go on tilt. As if they don't see you play there regularly so how could you be any good.

I've also started to play at Parx more often - about once a month or so. Like it there better

Borgata 10/20 O8: The main game on the weekends is as described. Miserable.

If a 2nd table (and sometimes a 3rd table!) does go, those tables usually have some good action, and worth the play. But every time I am moved to go to the main table, I want to stab my eye after about 15 minutes.

This is an exact description of the way I feel at the 5/10 O/8 at Golden Gates in Blackhawk, CO. I've given it up for 2/5-100 spread limit HE. However, a few weeks ago, the 2/5-100 spread limit O/8 game started up again, it's been pretty juicy...

I'm going out to Ontario, CA soon and I'm interested in some low stakes O8 as well. As far as I understand, the smallest O8 game you can find in California is 4/8 with full kill.

My options:
Bicycle & Commerce - the two biggest rooms, no problem getting a game. Will traffic be an issue?

Anyone know if it's worthwhile to go to San Manuel?

I think Lake Elsinore has a 4/8 game as well.

I might try Pechanga just to see the 3/6 5-card omaha game (anyone play this? hi/low?)

Skip the Morongo?

Muckleshoot (Auburn, WA...25 miles south of Seattle) has a 4/8 kill game going almost always. Lately I have seen 15/30 on occasion and even the rare 2/5 PLO game.

The 4-8 O8 had a half-kill at the V the last time I was there, so I supposes it still does. Half-kill is enough it doesn't need a full kill. They have 8-16 O8 too.

You are correct, I was wrong. I looked back at my Poker Journal app and it is a half kill game. I was there in January and March and I guess I'm just getting old and I'd forgotten.lol

I agree with stoopmonkey about the Omaha H/l Players in Borgata. BTW they are not just Grumpy old farts but they're petty, cheap and miserable old *******s. Most of them were Italians though but I don't see them anymore may be they all went to their grave miserably.

Hollywood in Aurora, IL has a variety of Omaha Hi/Lo 5 days of the week. Either 15-30 or 20-40 depending on the day. Sunday and Monday it mixes with Stud-8. Omaha always has a kill to 20-40 or 30-60. Friday night is the best action sometimes getting 2 games.

I doubt there's a 10/20 O8 specialist out there who bounces between both of those games, but I've played both 4/8 O8 at Commerce and 10/20 O8 at Borgata and the Borgata was far worse behaved and the Commerce game was way more fun.
