There is no NL holdem in AZ due to state regs. Closest you can come is a spread limit game 5-150. I would say it plays more like a 3-5 NL but max bet at any one time is 150.
Casino AZ is pretty good in terms of tourneys and consistent games.

Does the spread limit run often at Casino Arizona or do I need to go somewhere else?

I'm heading to AZ this weekend. How are the tournaments and cash games at the Harrahs Ak-Chin and Ft Mcdowell?

Just came back from CAZ last night after an 8 hour session at 4/8.

It's absolutely stunning how many people with little to no experience in poker are playing the game to make their mortgage payments. If you're a winning player, this place is a harvest full of scared, dead, and practically free money. Survive the chasers and be patient enough, and the chips'll stack steadily, but surely.

For example, one hand:

I'm on the BTN holding QQ. One limp, UTG+2 raises, 4 folds, I 3bet, SB folds, BB folds, Maniac calls, UTG+2 calls.

Flop: J 10 6

Maniac checks, UTG bets, I 2bet, Maniac folds, UTG calls.

Turn: 6

Check, I bet, call.

River: K

Check, I check.

Villain tables AQ for the nut straight.

So I lose a decent pot, but I revel in the fact that my opponent is chasing down her as a 90/10 dog. Of course, as the poker maths dictate, I proceed to stay in pots way ahead, and with variance not peeking her head too far out, I proceed to crush the table for 76BB in the next 6 hours. It's a great time to know how to play pokers at CAZ.

Side note: After I lost that pot, the SB, some older lady who was apparently there with her husband who popped by to talk to her, and was stuck a couple hundred but were obviously not professionals, gave me some poker advice. She says to me, "That's why you shouldn't have raised, she was strong." Inside I chuckled, and apparently felt a moment of clarity as to why I was there last night.

Im heading out to Phoenix tommorrow for 2 weeks and was thinking of trying the 5-150 spread limit game. What's the average Buy In for that game if it plays like 3-5, 200? or more? If it's higher I think I might just stick to 4-8 after reading that last post, even though I cant remember the last time I played limit as no one in Michigan runs it anymore.

I've played a lot of 5-150 there and it's a gold mine. There are some really horrible players but the vast majority are just really predictable. Don't fall victim to fancy play syndrome and you'll be fine.
