I'd like to share a 2 room condo with someone whose references I can confirm from about 6/15 through 7/15. If you're in a hotel and you want to save a buck, PM me and we'll try to work something out.

I'm coming out to LV in the morning and I'll probably look at places early this week.

If you are going to book a room at a Harrahs property and have a harrahs card CALL THEM UP! I only have a gold card with no play on it other than about $7000 in tourny entrys from last years WSOP. I got Rio's deluxe suite from 6/10 - 6/17 for $580. I went to their website first and entered my total rewards card # and was offered $780, the guy on the phone said I had some offer that gave me the last 2 nites free. So give them a call before you book.

Just got off the phone with the Rio to see what the hotel rates were and I was pleasantly surprised:

Thursday, June 12: $40
Friday, June 13: $140
Saturday, June 14: $140
Sunday, June 15: $90
Monday, June 16: $90
Tuesday, June 17: $110
Wednesday, June 18: $130

After Wednesday the 18th the prices go up to $300+ and they and they get much more expensive after that topping out around $900 on 4th of July weekend but if anyone is in town now and still needs a place to stay you should definitely give the Rio a call for some pretty good rates.

Edit: lol, i just read the post above mine. Now I feel like I got hosed on the deal.

I found a one bedroom condo on LVBS just south of the outlet mall privately for $1300 for a month. It's really nice, and there's a pool, exercise center, and security. This is much better than any comparably priced hotel alternative if you hadn't taken advantage of pre-entrant rates. For me, it's worth the money.

The owner has an identical unit about 50 yards away. I like them, and if anyone wants to try to hook up with them I can give you the info.

My wife and kids will be coming out for part of the trip.

There is a couch and a futon that I may be willing to let out for the right person.

It is fine, for up to a week, tops. At least they have put plasma tvs in the rooms now.

Upside, It is an EASY walk to the Rio, across the street.

Upside, really good, quick valet parking if you plan on going anywhere else.

Downside, my pool at home is bigger than their pool.

Downside, definitely an older. less affluent crowd than the Strip.

In terms of easy ingress and egress, ambiance, food service, gaming and every other term, the IP is a casino from Hell.......... I would not stay there if they paid me.....

I would take Terrible's over the IP 7 days a week. (Actually, Terrible's is not bad at all, reasonably priced, straight down Flamingo, near some good restaurants, a long walk from Club Paradise, and the food is decent.)

We should form a working list of side hotels good for poker players who just want a cheap and decent decent room.

Hooters
Tropicana??

Car Required
Orleans
Stratosphere
Gold Coast
Palace Station

I recently made reservations about a week ago to stay at the Las Vegas Valley View Extended Stay. However, I am considering canceling them and looking for good possible alternatives to stay from 6/30-7/7. I won't have a car so cab availability/walking proximity to the Rio are considerations as well as a decent area of town as I like to go running. Any opinions about the Las Vegas Valley View or other options?

yeah, there'd be a pretty short list for those tryin to do the WSOP w/o a car. Unless the shuttles are reliable. Palms, Orleans, Rio ...?

I just got back staying 8 days. I went on the 17th to play at the Binions Classic. I was to move up to the Rio on the 22cnd to play the Seniors. But I liked the Binions tourney so much and the friendly staff there that I stayed downtown at the Four Queens. I went to the RIO everyday and Caesars as well but I caught the Deuce (Bus). It took a while but I would get to Harrahs and get the shuttle to Rio. There is a shuttle to Ceasars as well. Pretty soon it was a routine. Couple of times I would catch a cab back to downtown when it got real late. Cost me $20. But I was late because I was in action.
Next year Ill probably do the same as I would want to stay longer and play more events at Binions. I was not impressed with the WSOP's oveflow and rush during breaks and dinner. I had more fun at Ceasars Mega Stack and the Venetian Deep Stack Extravaganza. But cant beat the staff at Binions.

After looking around some on Google Earth, I don't really understand this post, unless you are talking about walking distance from the Strip. But Hooters and Tropicana are not really that close to the Bellagio/Caesar's/Venetian/Wynn anyways. Of this list, only the Gold Coast is within walking distance of the Rio. I changed my stay from the Extended Stay to the Gold Coast for only $10 more per night (actually cheaper on weekdays). It is closer to the Rio than the Extended Stay, and hopefully nicer and less sketchy as well.

Yeah, I was kind of fuzzy and lazy. Wrong thread to put it in for sure.

Thanks for reminding me about fatwallet. I booked the MGM grand and shaved 25$ per night off of the price on travelocity.

I agree Red Rock casino is great, really plush and friendly. Just the drive to the strip that gets me. Otherwise a top place to stay.

Question about poker room rates:

If I book at the MGM using a bonus code, can I still get their poker discount?

You should just book the lower of the two rates. The poker rate is a fixed price that varies by date, not an additional discount off whatever rate you are currently booked at.

I'm super late making reservations- going in Friday 4th, leaving Sunday 6th.

I was gonna try and stay somewhere super balla but that would be totally irresponsible of me and I'd rather have that extra money to gamble with, so I asked a few family members that live in Vegas what places to check out. They came up with these two:

Arizona Charlie's on Boulder
Sam's Town

They are both off the strip but we are driving in from L.A. so having to drive to the places we'll be playing won't be a problem. Has anyone stayed at either? How do they compare to Imperial Palace? FWIW I've never stayed at IP though but I hear a lot of bad things. Both are cheaper than IP, AZ Charlie's significantly so. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Also I'm open to places downtown maybe, but I do want to be close to the strip and don't want to have any poker rates to clear.

Most other places on the strip or closer seemed to be much more expensive for the dates we will be there. I plan on booking this tomorrow, was actually gonna book tonight but figured I'd ask here first for opinions. Thanks for any advice.
