you can always stay at a budget suites, they are all over vegas, 2 on trop and a few more on or around Paradise. They rent monthly for about 900, you just bring your own sheets and your good to go. They are a bit rough but not that bad, a lot of stippers stay there, so the pool is a good time.
Just another option

I have bagged a splendid condo, with pool and health club, for less than $110 a night, one week minimum. And there are thousands of them.

here is a link to the Budget Suites I told you about
http://www.budgetsuites.com/locations.html
http://www.budgetsuites.com/location...ropicana2.html
they start at $199 a week, you can do weekly or monthly, with monthly you save a 1/2 week.
The good thing is they have full kitchens so you can re-heat the left overs

Exactly. Great suggestion. I'm in real estate in South Florida, and the housing market is in the dumps, exactly the same situation in Las Vegas.

No one can sell, so people are doing whatever they can to make money off of there empty properties.

Also nice to get out of the casinos for awhile and relax and refresh.

"do the budget suites have internet available?"

Not the last time I checked. That was a couple of months ago.

Thought I might add that the RIO sent me a letter offering $79 per night any nights during the tournaments. If I either preregister for a tourney or enter one after I arrive the rate is reduced to $59 per night. I was under the impression that anyone who entered any WSOP tourneys last year were eligible for this offer.

I'd be interested in renting out my nice house for the duration, for the right price and to the right person. Master-bedroom and bath in a 2BR/2BA house to share with my roommate, Bones. I'll be out of town. It's got a pool and is only 5 minutes driving distance from the Rio.

PM me for details.

some of the Budget suites do have internet, the one on swenson has a big sign saying they do. Also there are a few internet cafes around if you need internet access.

There are two of them right? Which one is closest to the Rio and how is the transportation to and from the Rio? Is it accessible? How would you get there? Would you have to take taxis or what? Any shuttles or buses that get you there easily with little hassle?

The one thing you never have to worry about in Vegas is cabs, they are everywhere. I would stay on the one on Trop and Wynn, it is about 2 miles from the Rio, just hop on 15 and get off the next exit.
The cab ride should be no more then $7, I am guessing at that though.

There is also 2 or 3 blocks away from the Rio, an Extended Stay I've stayed at before.

It's not real fancy, but it's clean, and it has kitchens in them (they are Studios), and I understand that they've just remodeled recently all the rooms (since I was last there back a few years ago).

It's this one here:

Yeah, but if you're going to be there for an extended time, you can always rent a car.

All the Casinos have places to park, and the valet parking isn't very expensive either (for the tips that is).

Before you book the pre-entrant and entrant rates plug your Harrahs # into their site and see what you get. The entrant rates for Harrahs when I am going are $70 weekdays and $140 weekends. Using my Total Rewards # I was able to get $60 weekdays and $110 weekends.

Scott ... I'm a diamond member of Total Rewards ... if I was willing to stay on the strip, I actually got most of my nights for FREE for the time I'm going to be there.

Me too, but run your Total Rewards # thru anyways. When I ran mine, I got lower rates than the WSOP entrant rates for over half the days I am going to be there.
