where is the best place to go around Portland for tournaments?

i hate how most of them seem to have some type of door fee. i'm not going to pay a $10 door fee for a $30 tournament.

Can anybody get me in the NL cash games in Portland? I've been doing the tourneys at Aces poker club, but i've come to the conclusion, it's definitely not profitable. So, It's either that or spirit mountain...

So, in Portland for a meeting, then going to San Francisco area (Marin) for visit to friend.

Is my poker time better spent going to Spirit Mountain, or in California (EG at Lucky's).

I'm 1/2, 2/5 player.

Thanks!!!

Small update since i played in LC for the first time.

Chips in La Center - Mostly small games, 3/6, 4/8 , 2-8 spread, also had a list for 2-40 spread and it sounded like they had a few people that called in to play it and it ran when it filled at least once a week. While I was there midday on a weekend only two games and one small tournament were running.

Free food after an hour of play (must give first/last name but don't have to card in) from a decent menu. Unfortunately is not walled off from the rest of the casino but it is a very small casino so any noise produced from the poker tables is probably louder than the rest of the room.

Yikes. $129/night rooms at Spirit Mountain on weekend, and no nearby hotels (nearest 17 miles on Hotels.com).

Any thoughts on cheap lodging there?

Seems like the bus from Portland goes in AM and returns PM. Seems -ev.

Why Chips and not New Frontier? I'm wondering whether New Frontier is spreading 20-40 or 40-80 every day with the new limits.

Frontier had 1+ hour wait, chips did not.

Would you wait 1 hour+ for access to Jessica Alba's panties?

I was on my way down to portland and only planned to play for a few hours. Not really worth my time to wait.

They now spread 30-60 once or twice a week. At first it was Tuesday only, then they switched it to Sunday and Monday. It didn't run the one Sunday I was up there since the switch. Otherwise, they spread 20-40 once a week (now Tue) and the biggest daily game is 15-30 full kill. 5-100 is spread on Fri and Sat but rarely seems to run for long, if at all.

Overall the place seems confused about what to do with the new limits. Panties analogy still apt, though.
