(Didn't want to make a whole thread, but I don't have any serious poker friends to chat about my current play with)

So the tax return came in two weeks ago, and I've since made two trips to the local casino to play 1/2.

trip 1: Played ok, c-bet a bit too much, expected people to fold to my aggression, which didn't happen. Played four big hands, won two, lost two. Of the two I lost, one was definitely the right play (got it all in on the turn with a straight, opposing set rivered full), and one was probably not (I lost more than I needed to, overplaying AJ on a AA7 board against pocket 77). net -25.

trip 2: tightened up a lot compared to trip 1. Didn't c-bet nearly as much. Got lucky a couple times (notably flopping a low full house on a 2 heart board, getting 3rd heart on the river and stacking the nut flush player with a FH). Got stupid lucky overplaying a JJ against what was probably a higher PP, getting money in on the turn with a 9837 board, rivering the T for the straight. Basically this session was TAG + very rungood. Net +657.


I don't think I am as good as #2 suggests, but I think I am definitely better than #1. I need to see how I average out over a few weeks, since obviously my sample size is tiny.

@Kobold, don't bet into made boats with top trips and you'll be fine. Play more PLO if you need to learn how to nit it up post-flop.

Seriously though, good win on trip #2. If you ever are inspired to do a detailed write-up of a session, please make a new thread in the main forum here and put "TR" and the casino in the title so people know it's a trip report. People love trip reports and we don't get many of them.

Used to play a lot of dungeons and dragons when I was younger. The name stuck from there, though now I am an attorney, hence the Esq.

I have trouble keeping track of the details of all the hands that I play over the course of the session. I don't know how to unobtrusively record what I am doing in a hand without tipping people off. I suppose I could try typing them unto my phone and it would look like I am texting.
