Best place in AC for MTT's? Best place in AC for MTT's?

I'm going to AC next week (tues through Thursday) and don't have a big enough roll yet to sit wat I feel to be comfortable at 1/2 with variance. So is there any like 50-100 tournys at certain casions that run pretty often. We are staying at a harrah's location due to my friends comps. Thanks in advance.

I'm gonna say showboat or harrah's for the daily small buy in MTT's. The structure you get (10k stacks 20 min blinds) for the buy-in is decent. I can say that the fields at the boat are def. pretty weak too. They have an 11am, 2pm and 7pm $53+12. If you do decide to stop in at the boat I'll be in town on Tuesday evening and most of the day Wednesday playing 1-2. I'll be the kid with piercings, ridiculously baggy pants and probably a jersey of some kind.

EDIT: Harrahs tournies are 58+12 turbo (15min blinds) bounty at 10:15am and midnight. Plus they have 68+12 at 1:15pm and 8:15pm (20min blinds). The Harrahs and Showboat structures are nearly identical with Harrahs having one extra level early (150-300) showboat skips that level.

Hope this info helps you out. Also, its been a few months since I've actually played in any of these so it might be possible that there are small changes.

The 68+12 at Harrah's are the best deal and the most profitable IMO, but I like the Borgata better b/c you can hit bigger with the big crowds.

Last Wednesday we had 331 players in the Borgata 11am $100 + $20 and 237 in the 7pm $100 + $20. The morning prize pool was over $33,000. (36) places paid.

Depending on how much you're willing to invest, the $100+20 15k guarantee on Wed at the Borgata are HUGE and a lot of money can be made. Expect large fields.

What? If you aren't rolled for the varaince at 1/2 it's going to be much worse in tournaments.

Seems to me as if OP is looking to get his feet wet and have some cheap fun.

Though, 1-2 can be alot more profitable if he plays TAG.

I would definitely recommend a Borg $120 tournament. Structure is awesome.

I will second this recommendation. Matter of fact, I'll be there next Wednesday playing in both tournaments.

The Taj has a REALLY good tourny that's 50+15 and you get 15k in chips, only downfall is it starts at midnight. Usually gets a pretty good turnout though

Not to be a d*ck but this structure is TERRIBLE, and I do mean terrible. I recall it going from 400-800 100 ante, 600-1200 200 ante, 800-1600 300 ante

As opposed to the Taj structure which goes from

6 $100 $300-$600
7 $100 $500-$1,000
8 $200 $800-$1,600

?

Taj is the worst structure IMO. Perhaps that's why no one shows up there. I went there a few months back on a Friday night for $160+20 or something like that b/c the buyin % was the lowest of almost any tourney in AC. I get there and there's 11 people signed up. We blind some dead stacks and then I turn around and it's 200-400 w/ antes.

Thanks guys I appreciate all the tips so far. Keep them coming. And my bankroll is about $800 so that's why I wanna play smaller tournaments instead of putting 1/4 of my roll on a 1/2 game.

EDIT: I guess I could just sit and play TAG but I do wanna play some tournys also. This will be my first (of many) AC trips so I wanna get acclamated with everything.

And by "no one shows up there," you mean the midnight tournament routinely gets 100 runners on WEEKNIGHTS. I've played in the tournament at least five times on different nights and times of the year, and the least I ever saw in it was 87. That was on a Tuesday night at the end of January or beginning of February.

The structure isn't great and the juice is a bit high, but the entertainment value of the drunks playing in it is well worth the $65 ($53+12 or $50+$15, I forget).

As far as tournaments at normal times of day, I'd go with a Showboat 11:00a or a Borgata noon or whatever their daytime one is.

Ive played the midnight a couple times and it's always been fairly packed, but that's just drunks and degenerates who like the fast blinds. I was talking about a legit 7pm tourney on a Friday in the spring. Getting less than 50 is a bad sign especially if it's the best deal in town. There were literally 11 people signed up when I sat down at 7. Then they tried to give me a Dixie cup of Bud Light, but that's a whole other story.

I thought the Trop had a good tournament last year. I don't recall specifics but:

About 2 hours of play before push/fold.
Juice not to high.
field strength typical, some good players but unlikely to find a tough table.

Is there an up-to-date, consolidated list of AC daily tourneys somewhere? Or do I just need to start Googling casino-by-casino?

I would at least try the Wed. AM Borgata tourney. Yeah it's the top of your desired buy-in range but you will get a nice prize pool and a decent structure.

If you want to stay cheap (in other words, not the $120 at the Borgata) nothing beats the Showboat. Someone posted earlier that you get a 10k starting stack, that is not correct. You get a 15k starting stack and the structure is decent for a $65 buy in. Also, there are never any antes.

Just wanted to update this.

I stumbled into the poker room at the Taj last night to drunk-tilt the midnight mtt and it was cancelled. Not even 3 people signed up. The hostess said that most of the mtt's get between 4-10 runners lately.

Check out Golden Nugget and Showboat. If you look at BravoPoker most of the listed casino's have their daily tournaments listed too. Both GN and Showboat have 25k (with add on) starting stacks and some guarantee's.
