Vancouver BC 5/5 PLO Game at Edgewater

I have played this game a couple of times and found it kinda wild. Has anyone had any success with it. Any other PLO games in Vancouver even smaller?

Re: Vancouver BC 5/5 PLO Game at Edgewater

Tried it a few times. The game is generally steep, especially with the uncapped buy in. Havent had much success though. Wasnt very comfortable at that level as to see a flop it could easily cost 100-200 due to some pot/repot action from guys with 4-5k in front of them.

Need some very deep pockets to play there.

If you want other PLO games you are basically out of luck. The Boulevard ran regular 2/2 PLO 1-200 buy in a few months back but it died soon after. We managed to get one going last week, but thats not very common.

Riverrock is generally in the same shape. The BCPC had 5/5 and 5/10 PLO games running. Since then, nothing.

I gonna try again in Jan. I wish there was a 1/2 PLO game around. Or a 2/4 PLO capped at 160.

I was told that some players were trying to get 1/2 plo going at Boulevard about 2 weeks ago. I gave him my number in case they do but haven't heard anything yet.

Re: Vancouver BC 5/5 PLO Game at Edgewater

i was there last weekend and they were running an "optional mandatory straddle" game (if that makes any sense) so basically 5/5/10 which was getting some massive action, especially since they were letting people restraddle to 20. that is until some guy sat down and didnt want to straddle and all the deepstacked regs starting bitching at him. he left and then the pit came over and got mad at the regs for making him want to leave. shortly after that the deepstackers left and it returned to a 5/5 game and prob about 1/4 the average pot that it was before.

tbh i was having more fun after cause im barely rolled for 5/5 PLO let alone 5/5/10 and i was just kinda trying the game. i dont usually play PLO

Apparently the Boulevard ran 2/2 PLO for 2 fridays in a row now.. So if more people show up next week, it can run the whole night.

Best bet is friday afternoon.

Re: Vancouver BC 5/5 PLO Game at Edgewater

this past summer in vegas i sat at 5/5 plo (no max) at the rio....it soon became 5/5/10......then 5/5/10/25.......and then 5/5/10/25/50. these were all re-straddles starting at the button, then cutoff, then hijack etc. we played for several hours like that with the occasional $100 on it.
apparently plo players like to gamble.

its hard to hold a game down in size. casinos that do think it is better but ultimately drives away the gamblers and action players and ruins the game. the game will seek its own level without intervention.

BUMP..... went last night. grey cup saturday night 2011. there were 3tables of limit. maybe 8 tables 1/2 nl. 2 tables 2/5 (or was it 5/5?). one table 1/2 plo. no tables bigger PLO. just thought i'd add a data point for those interested.

first time there. not the nicest casino. nice that the parking was free in downtown vancouver. not the nicest casino but i did think it was very relaxed

Re: Vancouver BC 5/5 PLO Game at Edgewater

played 5-5 here on friday night. pretty fishy play, including me unfortunately. played 5 hours. a couple of action guys who didn't overlap much in time. alot of calling of raises. i got partially free-rolled, although i had outs to full house.

anyway, how does parking work on canucks game nights (like tonight, wednesday april 11th vs. Los Angeles)

Is there any regular PLO games in Vancouver? Looking to take a trip to Vancouver in the next week or two. Looking for 2/5, 5/5, or 5/10 PLO. Any recommendation for hotels nearby also?

Re: Vancouver BC 5/5 PLO Game at Edgewater

Edgewater runs 1/2/5 PLO everyday (opens around 3:00 pm). Min buy-in $200, no max. Some good regulars, but looooot of dead money I can't afford to play regularly because of the huge variance, but I like to take a shoot once in a while when I make major profit on 1/2 or 2/5.
Sometime turns out as a 5/5 on friday and saturday night.

There's also occasionnaly a 5/10 or 10/25 mixed (NLHE/PLO) running. The best is to call the poker room to inquire (604-408-4060).
