That is unbelievably stupid.

Did a floor person confirm this ruling?

I've heard of players misapplying the rule about who can raise (i bet 100, someone calls, someone shoves for 167, we can't raise because we didn't get raised but someone who hasn't acted on my bet can) but can't believe that it was an official ruling in somewhere claiming to be legitimate.

I believe this is the same at Horseshoe Cincinnati. They consider the straddle a blind raise of $3 more with the option to act last, therefore you can raise it $3 more (to $8).

For the most part I do not believe I have ever seen anyone do it on purpose, but instead they did not realize it was a straddle and tried to make it $7 or $8 to go and were either forced to make it $8 from $7 or the $8 stood.

In the room I run (in my mind) the straddle is another blind. Treated like a kill pot (double blind sizes, with 3 blinds).

Min bets ought to be the size of the straddle, but I don't know if a $2 bet after a $4 straddle has ever been forced to $4 (of if the rules dictate that it should be).

In my room, min bet is the stradde.

That's what I'm calling stupid. A third blind raising the stakes with last action makes sense. So does a blind raise. But this way it's neither fish nor fowl.

Not sure if it is actually the official rule for the room or not, but I have seen dealers interpret it that way. Don't believe a floor has ever been called over when I have been at the table and it has happened so I am not sure how they would rule.
