Re: Any other casino prefer not to make money?

I was at a casino once and we had a group of guys bust and some leave which made our game go from 9 to 5 instantly. It was late at night and no list. I asked the floor for rake reduction at the 1/2 game $5 max. The conversation went like this...

Floor "NO!."
ME "WHAT?!"
Floor "I said NO!"
ME "You're ****ing outta your mind!"
Floor "Sir one more outburst like that and ill have you escorted outta here."

I racked up left and the game broke. I suppose no rake was better than some rake. I was rude w my words but not outta line for asking for a RR.

Re: Shift manager shut down my heads-up game at 3:30a.

Sometimes you don't want to know why.

Maybe the dealer didn't/couldn't work OT.

Floor: "Sorry sir our dealer has explosive diarrhea and needs to go home."
or "Sorry sure our dealer just got arrested would you like a sit at a 1-2 table?"

When I first started as a Shift Mgr., I was working overnights. I was onboard until 10AM, but the shift change occured at 8A. At about 7, we whittled down to one game. There was a call-in that left me with three dealers at 8AM.

Three pregnant dealers. Very pregnant.

It was fun to see the players try to figure out how the rotation was working with all the random 10 minute pushes, or why I wouldn't open another game until 10AM, despite a lit building heavily.

While my case is a bit on the extreme side, I'm sure there's other mitigating factors as to why your game was shut down. I think the biggest one I saw was the fact that the floor wouldn't want to explain why someone went over their allotted hours for the week.

Also...if you're playing at Aurora, take the extra drive and just go to the Horseshoe. IL poker is the nut low.

The simple truth is that most people aren't good managers/leaders.

Being a good manager/leader requires work, study, and practice... Everyone assumes that they would make a good manager/leader when in reality they suck.

sometimes the floor works with you, sometimes he's a dick and you have to fight with him. Luckily, I can count on one hand the number of times a floor did something stupid that caused a game to break when he could have worked with us and kept a rake paying game going

OP was already complaining about rake, so I doubt they were "tipping well"

Most likely dealer wasn't getting toked, gave looks to the floor and they shut down the game.

Obviously I can't comment on the specifics of the incident in question, but as a dealer I have dealt very short games on graveyard taking a very small (or no) rake. After getting pushed out the floor sometimes will ask if you're being taken care of appropriately back there. If yes, he'll keep the game going. If no, he'll shut it down and send someone home.

Also a few times, when the players want to play heads up or 3 handed late the floor has asked the players to give the dealer 5 bucks a down apiece, and no rake thereafter. No one has ever objected.
