When I first started as a Shift Mgr., I was working overnights. I was onboard until 10AM, but the shift change occured at 8A. At about 7, we whittled down to one game. There was a call-in that left me with three dealers at 8AM.
Three pregnant dealers. Very pregnant.
It was fun to see the players try to figure out how the rotation was working with all the random 10 minute pushes, or why I wouldn't open another game until 10AM, despite a lit building heavily.
While my case is a bit on the extreme side, I'm sure there's other mitigating factors as to why your game was shut down. I think the biggest one I saw was the fact that the floor wouldn't want to explain why someone went over their allotted hours for the week.
Also...if you're playing at Aurora, take the extra drive and just go to the Horseshoe. IL poker is the nut low.
