Did you see the scandalous blog about trip to Ukraine posted on pokerace.pl ? This is a disgrace someone is writing about ukrainian poker that way, what do you think? Poker nationalists?

Can anyone tell me if this is up to date as of April 2010? I'm stuck in Kiev for the weekend after a volcano erupted in Iceland and grounded my return flight and looking for some poker!

It's not, the authorities closed most of the casinos and clubs last june.

Thats a bummer. I knew it had occured in Moscow and had heard that Ukraine was maybe doing something similar. So has it been wiped out in effect?

At least as far as tourists are concerned, I'd avoid anything involving gambling in Ukraine for the time being - do not underestimate the amount of trouble you can find yourself in when you're a foreigner in the FSU doing something "illegal." If you're in Ukraine, I'd recommend the night life as well, if you speak English and you have money the Kiev girls will be all over you - trust me it'll be a much better decision to just enjoy yourself and take in the sites, Kiev is an awesome city if you handle it with care.

I shall be in Kiev also for next five days. I saw a previous thread on 2p2 saying that poker clubs and casinos had been closed down. Anyone know if this is still true?
