Re: Please post list of angle shoots to watch out for

If a pro/regular who usually does everything perfectly all of a sudden makes a "mistake", especially one where it invites a greedy opponent to take advantage of the "mistake", it isn't a mistake.

"If you got me, you got me. I'm all in" - Usually the nuts

Another

"SIGH - It's time for me to go anyway. I'm all in" - Also usually the nuts

Again, these are examples of table talk, but they are NOT angles.

Re: Please post list of angle shoots to watch out for

Just got warned about a player at my table the other night, who apparently (although I haven't actually seen him do this, but will now keep an eye out for it), will push what looks to be the remains of his stack in, his opponent will call the "all-in" (sometimes just by placing in the exact amount of chips put across the line) and then opponent will table his hand (it's a rule at our table where if all players are all-in that all hands are tabled before action is continued), where upon scumbag will then decide if he wants to put in the rest of the chips he is hiding/holding in his hand at any point later in the hand.

Cliffs: Watch out for people hiding chips in their hand.

You should also be alert for people trying to add or remove chips during a hand; or who are concealing high-denomination chips (or bills if cash plays) behind or under their stacks.

Guys, table talk is perfectly fine.

I think lot of people said this.

WAIT for the action.
Online we are so sure of action, we can snap call, fold or raise.
But live we should know what the action is to protect us.
Of course this does not mean pausing for every action and slowing down the game.
I would say we have to be careful of your actions during big bets and raises.

I am careful most of the time but tend to act quickly on river not wanting to be called slow roller.
River is where there is lot of information so we need to pause think through the hand and take time. After all we are paying rake to sit on the table.

I'm unsure how to reply to this one. Because they expect some sort of answer. Generally saying you will show, means you're weak.
I don't answer and just stay silent.

This.

Also - I usually pick a spot on the felt to stare at while awaiting the villain's action - when they ask that question, not only do I not respond, I just pretend like I didn't hear it (or anything else for that matter). I have seen all different types of angles played in various casinos (Vegas/AC/PA). Best solution is to ALWAYS wait until the dealer announces the action - don't let stupid pride get in the way (slowrolling, etc.). You are paying the casino a rake to utilize their services - USE THEM. It's all about making money and how stupid would it be to throw away several hours worth of good play's profits to a snake that just waits for his/her moment to try to cheat....

haha yeah as soon as i saw him i knew it had to be that slimy looking dude. and i also agree that it was well handled by the floorman. basically hinting to his opponent to fold lol. ''just to let you know this guy did the same exact thing earlier in the tournament and he had the nuts."

angle shooters are pricks who are not good enough to win with skill and intelligence so they resort to these scumbag tactics to try to cheat/ take advantage of people.

i know this one isnt an angle shoot but still pissed me off a lot. playing in a live 2-5nl game i got it all in on the flop with top set of aces vs villans kk. after he busted and left the table, the player to my left noticed and pointed out to me that the villan must have at some point either during or before the hand removed the $100 black chip that he had just lost to villan in a previous pot- because it didnt end up in my stack. i didnt see him do it during the hand, but either way i was pretty much cheated $100 dollars.

Re: Please post list of angle shoots to watch out for

Most fo the things you guys are discussing aren't angles.....

Theres tons of little angles done every day that almost nobody ever seems tro talk about.

The player who places his call right next to the bet of the player next to him ..... hoping that the guy at the other table looks up and thinks its one bet for twice as much.

The loose player who throws his bet in front of the nit next to him, hoping the player at the other end of the table who wasn;t paying attention will think the bet came from the tightwad.

The guy who when first to act taps the table as the flop comes out .... If he wants to check he claims his tap was a dark check. If he he wants to bet he claims he was just calling for a good flop, or tapping the table for luck.

The guy who checks by nodding his head or saying Ok. Setting this up for later when he claims that nodding your head or saying OK isn't a check.

the guy who stares at his opponent after him trying to make hims think the action is on him.

Re: Please post list of angle shoots to watch out for

Saw a middle eastern reg named Jay (I think Jamil) at MGM Detroit which has no betting line, start yelling that a guy called on the river when he's just counting chips next to his cards. Jay was bluffing and definitely knew the guy didn't call. Guy called anyway and won.

Misdeclare hand. Minor version of this is "two pair" with 54 on 22AJ4

In this poll, 60% of respondents are a-ok with declaring your hand "two pair" when your hand is, in fact, two pair. 30% are wishy-washy. Only 9% believe it's a real issue.

Better get used to it.
