From the files of the AK Never Wins Society...

Last night, a player limps in, I raise, and the action folds back to the limper. He open-folds AK and announces, "AK is not worth playing unless the pot is multi-way."

Calling it an open-fold is pretty absurd...

Open-folding can refer to folding when it is your action and you haven't put any money into the pot or folding face-up. He clearly means he folded the AK face up.

I've never heard of folding face up be referred to as open folding.

In the olden days, showing your hand was called "opening" it. I presume that it comes from draw.

The one that always gets me is OMC saying "I know you're bluffing but I'll let you have it"

Then again OMC would say "I know you have an Ace (for a pair of aces) but I can't fold my kings"

Board on the river is:
42424

MP bets half pot.

BTN tanks. Asks, "So you've got the 2?" and folds. His pocket 5s.

Turned out to be a good fold after all because MP showed 66 but... still...

I play in a weekly .25/.50 game where one woman will call a $20+ 3-bet preflop with hands like J4, but will fold AK for .50. Every week she says "I never win with AK, I hate those cards". Sometimes she will limp, but announce "I hate these cards" and you can pretty accurately put her on AK.

After tabling 27o to scoop a pot from the c/o,

man: you like that 27o eh?

woman: Every time I use to fold it I'd see a 2 and 7 pop up, so now I always play it. It's my lucky hand.

Heard this one a few weeks ago, got some amusement out of it:

2/5 Cash game, player 1 raises pre, player 2 calls

Flop T98. P1 bets, P2 calls

Turn 4. P1 bets, P2 shoves for the size of the pot, P1 instacalls and fastrolls TT

River 7, P2 shows KJ and takes the pot. P1 sighs, P2 says "well I thought that I'd catch something, I would get you to fold, or I would go home, so i figured I was getting 2 to 1"

Heard this little gem last night at $1/2:

Spewtard raises to $15 pre, couple of callers including a rather tight, fairly decent player IP. Flop comes out JT2 and the spewtard leads $30, decent player makes it $100 straight, spewtard ships, and decent player snap calls the $150 more and tables AA.

Board runs out K6 before spewtard declares "two pair" and tables KJ. Then says "that's what you get for slow rolling aces".

Someone else corrected him on the difference between slow-rolling and slow-playing, but damn.

It baffles me every time someone mis-uses "slow play" and "slow roll". I see it happen quite a bit more than I'd expect.

Yea, it wasn't so much that mistake that amused me, it was the "I'm going to get him by putting all my money in as a 20/80 dog, yea, **** him"

Other guy get up him saying how is that slow rolling he had to show first and I lost then the guy said well you didn't bet enough on the flop. This isn't one specific incident, this is an absurd table.

1/2 NL playing with weak passive old folks.

Hand 1
60 something lady limps MP.
Hero bets 10 from button with AA
Granny calls
Flop 9,7,2 rainbow
Granny check/ calls 15
Turn 4
Granny check folds to my 35 raise showing the other 2 aces.

Hand 2 hero is a spectator
River Pot is 80
V1 checks
V2 bets 20
V1 check raise all in for 25 total
V2 folds to the 5 more with pot of 125.

Other granny hands... Observed to limp KK twice, QQ and JJ once.

So yes absurd session while waiting for my table change to get me out of this twilight zone nightmare.

Yeah, who wants to play against people who fold their overpair on dry turns

Have AK on button with a big stack mid stages of a small buy in tourney... bb ships a shortstack. I snap and she tables AA. I sigh and say nice hand. She says "that ain't **** yet!!" Flop a K. I say "uh, you have me and everyone else completely crushed." She stands firm that AA isn't ****. I'm like whatever lady and then I river a king. She says "see?!?!? I told you! ! I knew you were gonna hit that king!!!"" Later on another time playing I learned that she "hates pocket jacks"

Lololololol

I also saw a dude tank call from the bb a third of his stack with J 7o and explain that he had to when he two paired or whatever against the hand that was crushing him that shipped in lp

Because the only real winner on this game is the rake.
