Re: Money Clip? (how to carry $3-$5K in cash)

When I got sick of my wallet, I went with a carbon fiber money clip

Just use a front pocket wallet for your cards and id, and then wrap your money in a rubber band. Small one for small rolls, asparagus band for larger ones. Also, if you want it to be a nice shape, fold all 20s and 100s in groups of 5. That means you have easy $100 and $500 packets in the wad. I always fold groups of 5 face up and then any group with less than five with the face in so I can see immediately what I'm pulling out. I never put 1s 5s or 10s in the roll. I usually keep those in a second pocket just loose. The idea being that if I ever get robbed in a parking lot or something I could throw the loose bills and run. Not sure how well it will work, but that's the idea.

Re: Money Clip? (how to carry $3-$5K in cash)

I use multiple m-clips and a few cheap $1-2 clips. I sometimes carry several k, and GBP only come in 50 notes so I need a few. It's good to have money in set quantities so when I buyin/rebuy I don't need to count and make sure I don't get shorted, etc.

They aren't that expensive, and the ones that are are basically jewellery, anyway, so, well, if you want a nice looking accessory I guess it's okay.

I definitely think you should separate your poker money from your everyday money, in case of mugging, in case of paying for stuff in public and have fat wads of money showing, etc, and in general I prefer to keep count separate so I know how much I am spending, etc.

in all seriousness, i know a guy who literally carries it in a soft lunch box...I stick to rubber bands tho. Wear high socks if need be, i personally don't like heavy pockets.
