Mixed game at the Imperial Palace

Anyone played in the mixed game at the IP? It looks like a lot of random games. From what I could see it was a 3/6 game... Wondering what games are played, frequency of game being played, much interest when it does go?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Mixed game at the Imperial Palace

I would be interested in some info on this. I'll be in Vegas in April, and I want to play some lower stakes mixed games, no higher then 5/10 really. Anyone have some recommendations??? I'll be staying at The Venetian, but I don't mind going to some of the smaller casinos for these juicy mixed games! Thanks

Re: Mixed game at the Imperial Palace

You can find more info on the game on this third party site. The game was started by a member of that forum who also posts here. The stud games are played with a $1 ante, which is a little ridiculous for 3/6, but it has a $3 max. rake and it played very loose the time I sat in the game. It's beatable (even in the stud rounds), but it's more of a social game.

Don't worry if you don't know the rules to some of the more out-there games (like 4 card ocean crazy pineapple), most others won't know the rules either and it will be explained to everyone. Keep in mind that in loose games where you see many cards you'll need close to the nuts to win. Follow that advice and you'll do well.

Re: Mixed game at the Imperial Palace

I played back in January. It's a lot of fun so I'd highly recommend it. For the first few hours the game actually played a lot more serious than i expected, but once the regulars showed up, shots started getting ordered for the table and it really loosened up. Take Moneylines advice and you should be just fine even in the games you don't quite understand.

My only advice would be to make sure you know the rules of Badugi (you don't necessarily need to know much strategy), but it's probably the only game that would be difficult to explain at the table if you didn't know how to play. They also play a variation called Baduci, so it's a good idea to learn Badugi before you get there since you need to know it for two of the games that are spread.

Everything else is a variation of Draw, Omaha, or Stud.

I guess I'm looking for more of a 8 game mix on the strip, like on PS. Anyone know of any???? Would like to play up to 8/16. Thanks!

The lower limit mixed games are:

-The aforementioned 3/6 mixed game at IP on Sundays.
-4/8 HORSE at Monte Carlo on Thursday nights (no ante on stud games).
-4/8 HORSE at Binion's on Wednesday afternoons/early evenings ($2 button ante on stud)
-4/8 HORSE at Harrah's on Wednesday nights ($1 ante on stud games, $3 max. rake, but they take a $1 jackpot drop with only 4% of it going to promotions tourists can hit)
-6/12 (I think) HORSE at Venetian. Was going Saturday and some Sunday nights, but I recall a poster here saying the game was struggling lately.

If you play a little higher there is a mixed game at Wynn that sometimes goes as low as 10/20.

Cool I'll have to call Sunday morning to get on the list for the IP game Sunday night. I'll be staying at The Venetian so hopefully I can get a game going there. I haven't played 2 of those games, the 3-2-1 Omaha is confusing me already haha.

Re: Mixed game at the Imperial Palace

Only runs Sunday evenings and LasVegasMichael is the host if nothing has changed recently. It is an absolute must and is a freaking blast. If you don't know the rules it doesn't matter. Doesn't take long to get the cocktails flowing and everyone is gambling (when I was there the rule was every straddle or extra straddle added one more bet to the cap if that tells you anything). You have to go play this game if you get the chance. I doubt anyone has ever played in it and regretted it.

Re: Mixed game at the Imperial Palace

LV mike wasn't running it when I play a couple of weeks in December, but it still ran for sure on sunday. It ran at least 2 other days during my 11 day stay. Always fun, a must play, imo.

How much should I should I reserve as a possible loss for gambling like this?

$3/6 and $4/8 as entertainment?

$100/150 buy-in with a couple more buy-ins in your pocket if you're just there to splash around and have a good time.
