Re: M8trix Casino (San Jose, CA)
- Same owners
- First floor casino, 8th (Top) floor high limit.
- Karaoke Rooms on 7th floor
- 2 floors of office space, 3 floors of conference rooms
Sports Bar with a couple 200' TV screens, several others. Noodle Bar, a main bar. High Tech lighting, tvs all over the room. Its a state of the art room, and is supposed to be incredible. Upscale bathrooms, instead of the awful ones at the current location. Valet parking available.
Signs around the room say April 3rd is the opening day, with a Grand opening that weekend April 6. This is what I've heard from various people at GC.

Same owners. Same license.
Same emphasis on the "California games", sometimes at the expense of Poker.
Interesting that they are running their own Food & Beverage and Security (they farmed those out when they bought the GC).

Wrong.
F&B run by the same company as the current one. Same with security.

Misread the employment page. Security seems to be the same company, but not sure about F&B. When they farmed F&B out, I believe it went to Aramark. The new place has something called NYC LLC. Can't find anything on them.

For me, it is not the casino or the employees ( I go back to when the place was 20 tables, mostly self-dealt Lowball).
My gripe is with the ownership and the management team they brought in. How they treated the employees and to a lesser extent how they treat poker players.

Re: M8trix Casino (San Jose, CA)
Angus,
The F&B will remain with NYC. You are correct about it going to Aramark first, but they were a disaster. NYC brought in, food is better, but still pricey for a card room.
No arguments about the treatment of employees and players, they can improve on that.
Pig4bill,
I don't know how any logically thinking person would say it isn't a new casino. Like I said, is ATT Park not a "new" ballpark because they moved from Candlestick?? You not having attended either isn't really pertinent to the main point. Its a new casino.

Re: M8trix Casino (San Jose, CA)
Didn't know they had changed F&B (been a bit since I played either place).
Think of p4b's statement as : "If the A's get a new stadium in San Jose, they will still be the A's"
ie, the new building will house the same dealers, Floors, shift managers, Casino Manager, and owners as the Saratoga Ave facility.

Re: M8trix Casino (San Jose, CA)
But consider:
Nicer casino.
More "non-degen" gamblers show up, mostly to play "California Games"
Management switch poker tables over to Blackjack, etc to make more money.
Fewer poker games, longer waits, etc.

Yup. Basically, after you sit down it won't be much different than the old place.
I dislike GC, among other reasons, because they seem to lead the way in finding ways to raise the drop. And then if it works, Bay 101 follows suit.

Well, my uncle is a Giants fan, but he told my dad (whos an A's fan) that if they moved to SJ he would become an A's fan.
New random people are gunna come play just because its a big shiny new building.
And the rake, will go up..over time.
Just like gas prices and every thing else goes up, over time.

And how many dedicated poker tables/games there will be. I wouldn't be surprised if the number is lower than at the old barn.

I've heard around 14-15.
Yeah, GC leads the way in raising the drop. As if Bay and the others wouldn't do it anyway. Cal Grand doesnt chop, ever, do you like dropping 5 bucks with only blind money out there??
Your hate for GC is ridiculous, geezus get over it already.

14 out of 49 tables? Shows where Poker fits into their priorities.
