Angus are you talking about the St. Louis video? That was at the end of the tournament series. Was a little tired that day so I apologize if I sound a little off.

Also please let us know about any promotions you'll be running to open the room? How will the bad beat jackpot(s) work? Mega and mini? Royal flush promotion? High hand?

Welcome back to the area! We chatted a couple of times at DP.

In my experience, Anthony was very hands on and willing to listen to players and I think he will be a huge asset!

Welcome, Anthony .. glad to see you on here .. your input and insight will be greatly appreciated. I know you're going to make the Horseshoe Poker Room in Baltimore a great place to play and give all other area poker rooms some stiff competition. I'm looking forward to being a regular! All the best, Cindy A.

Yes .. and he did such a great job with that room .. one of my favorites. Loved the action, the tourneys and the staff. Was such a good room to play at .. until it got sandwiched between Parx and MD Live and action and tourney attendance declined. As long as he doesn't get hamstrung by Management, I'm sure he'll do the same for Baltimore Horseshoe.

Hi Anthony, Good to see you back. I heard you'd be taking the Horseshoe room and was waiting for your announcement to the two plus two community.

You did a great job when you opened DP and you were a good friend to the players. I'm sure this will be a room that excels and leads. Good for you and good for the Baltimore area. DP is a shell of it's former self it seems. I stopped in recently, but really didn't know anyone. I know they treated you poorly in spite of what you did for them to get them on the poker map.... what goes around comes around, I suppose. Good luck to you in Baltimore. I remain in Texas as I was the last time we talked in St Louis.

Just a word to the wise for those not familiar with Baltimore. Do not succumb to the desire to skip parking costs and turn west to park on the streets adjacent to Russel St.

That is a semi-industrial area, part of Pigtown, very quiet at night except for people you won't like, and contiguous to some of the very worst Baltimore neighborhoods.

Yes, a lot of the people who live their are nice, orderly, hard-working people but some of them are definitely not.

At night, possibly carrying money, I would rather swim across the harbor then walk two blocks to my car.

This is the paragraph from Wikipedia on crime in this area.
Quote:
The overall crime rate in the Pigtown community statistical area (which includes Carroll Park and Barre Circle), at 121.4 per thousand residents for the year of 2012, was drastically higher than the citywide average 61.8 per thousand. Violent crime in Pigtown was 23.1 per thousand, while the city saw an average of 14.7 per thousand. The city had a property crime rate of just 47 per thousand residents in 2012, but the rate in Pigtown hit 98.3. Juvenile arrests were at a rate of 91.7 per thousand in Pigtown compared to the citywide rate of 79.2 in 2012.[17]
It might be worthwhile for the Casino to run a shuttle bus in a loop from the downtown corners where there are very plentiful parking garages a few blocks North.

^^^^
That!!!

And also a shuttle to and from the nearby light rail and metro stations would be a wise investment.

This is so right.
Light rail has lots of parking especially when the traffic rush is going out of town.
The Casino could even charge a dollar for the shuttle; no one going to spend lots of money on gambling will mind.

I'm a photographer and wanted to take pictures of areas from the non-fiction book, 'the Corner', about life in the tougher neighborhoods. I went down to Pigtown early on 3 AM on a Sunday morning, thinking it would be safer then. and there were guys on the corners walking around. It was so threatening a place I wouldn't even stop for red lights.

Would I park here and leave for the casino; not a chance.

Will the Casino have valet parking to avoid part of this problem? Will it be comped?

Will Public Transportation (buses) have a drop off at the casino?

Where is the Poker Room located in respect to what floor, access to parking, etc.?

Valet parking will be free with diamond and this guy has diamond....good luck getting diamond through poker....have to go on slot binge to get it

7 slot binges where u earn 1000 points in a day will get you lounge access....best to do 500 tier credits go home and go again later in day

I have no clue what parking will charge? Maybe 20? Really can't can't see with parking being expensive in town just having free parking like md live does

Will the lounge be solid here?

Hi everyone,

To give an update.

The supervisors came on board Monday, we have been all getting on the same page to ensure consistency from supervisor to supervisor and shift to shift.

To answer the question about promo's. I have written up many different promo's including High Hands, Aces Cracked, Football Squares, Utimate Poker Bankroll, Freerolls, etc..

Our Bad Beat is very unique and has been created to ensure that the promotional money stays in Baltimore and large amounts do not leave the area all at one time.

Details about all the promos will be available soon

Talk to you soon

Anthony

This talk of parking in the neighborhood around the Horseshoe reminds me of one of my first trips to AC many years ago when I stayed at a dump of a motel two blocks from the Taj where I went to play poker. When I made the reservation, I had no idea what the two block walk from the motel to the boardwalk was like. Free parking in the connected parking garage is great as long as there is visible security there.

With the Horseshoe being the 3rd Crown Jewel in the area, I'm quite sure any incidents that occur won't be from a lack of police presence. Just sayin...

I guess it's a good thing you're not subscribed to the UMB emergency alert text system???

No idea what that is. Still believe any incidents after Horseshoe opening won't be because of a lack of police presence. Still just sayin...

Most people are probably more familiar with UMMC (especially in the area you're talking about), UMBC or obv college park.
