Re: Got a flat tire while my car was valeted. Who pays?
By decent amount, I mean they cut me a check to reimburse me for my stay(which was about 5 days up to that point).

Re: Got a flat tire while my car was valeted. Who pays?
Everybody ITT so far is wrong.
First of all, towing?? You don't have a spare??? You don't have towing insurance, which literally costs about $2/month? And covers things like roadside assistance, they'll come out and change the tire for you if you don't know how or if it's too much work for ya.
Secondly, plugging a tire costs < $10. This is thread-worthy? We're arguing over who should pay THAT?
Third, even if the tires were 100% fine when he arrived, this is still OP's bill to pay. Sometimes, cars break down while in the hands of others, but that doesn't make it the other's fault.
A friend of mine dropped his wife's car off for some minor repair. When it was time to pick it up, I went with him in his car, the plan being for me to drive his wife's car back to the house. Well, I never got out of the lot, because the first time I touched the brakes, the pedal went limp. NO BRAKES!
The brakes worked fine when he dropped the car off, so it must be the shop's fault/responsibility, right?
I sure thought so at the time. Turns out, though, that's not the case. The brake lines were all rotten, all it took was somebody (either me or the mechanic) to step on that brake pedal harder than his wife ever did, to blow out the rotted brake line.
Yes, I see the difference between brand-new tires and rotten brake lines, but the principle remains, sometimes **** happens, and it's human nature to blame the guy behind the wheel at the time, when it's usually not his fault.
Only way I see the casino being liable for this damage is if they know that dirt road causes flat tires all the time but continues to use it. Good luck proving that. I'd grease a couple of valet attendants and chat 'em up, see if that dog will hunt...that is, if I couldn't change a flat tire myself, didn't have towing insurance, and was interested in squabbling over a $10 repair bill.
Finally, just because this happened at a casino doesn't make this a B&M thread.

You should pay. My guess is you had a big losing session and went busto hence no tire money, otherwise you are pretty cray for thinking there is proof it was caused by the valet.

Re: Got a flat tire while my car was valeted. Who pays?
From past experience, I keep a tire plug kit in my cars. I have had numerous nails and screws stuck in my tires. Throw on your spare, drive to a gas station, fill the flat tire, pull out the screw or nail, put in the rubber plug, done. I have never had problems with Can not blame casino for the flat as you may have had a screw in the tire for days, and only when it came out did it go flat.

Personally, at the local casino I most often go to, I've seen a lot of problems with the valet parking. Scratched doors, stolen stuff, etc. The casino never takes the blame. It doesn't surprise me that they're steadily losing customers lately.

While I may agree with you on the business angle, it is their business. What part of the whole "willingly hand your keys to another party" somehow obligates them to do anything but park and retrieve your wheels? OP should count himself lucky that the minimum wage flunky didn't drive car out to him and trash the rim.

Haven't you actually read the valet ticket? It pretty much indemnifys the casino/valet from everything imaginable.

Re: Got a flat tire while my car was valeted. Who pays?
Since I have been living in major cities (last five years) I haven't owned a car. I always thought, if I did own a car, valet parking is a pretty cool service to offer.
After reading this thread, I doubt I'd use it even if I needed to.

Less then 10$ to get fixed. Who's to say where the flat came from? You could of did something 5min. before you got there.

While they may not be liable, that crap they write on the ticket means **** all.
Eg: We are not responsible for any damage, accidental, or malicious resulting from any actions of our employees or the public for your property while in our bag room.
Where we are responsible for damage as provisioned in act :xxxx (applies to basically all situations where they might be legally responsible) our liability is limited to...
Basically the first part means completely nothing at all. The second part is prob just quoting the act.

I ended up having to cover all expenses and casino Risk Management team won't answer my calls or return them. I kept all expenses and everything but who knows doubt they are liable.

Re: Got a flat tire while my car was valeted. Who pays?
Sometimes tires go flat. **** happens. The fact that it might have been punctured with the valet behind the wheel is pretty much irrelevant unless you think someone deliberately poked a hole in the tire. If you had parked the car yourself in the exact same spot this wouldn't even be a question. What if the wheel fell off the car while being valet parked, would you blame them for that? No, and if that caused an accident it would be your fault.
Take your lumps and get your tire fixed. Casino made the right decision in terms of liability even if it might not be the best one for customer relations.
