Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live
During the rebuy portion of a rebuy tournament, a guy had 900 chips at 150/300, limps UTG, then folds to my raise. I had AJ, I almost just folded because I was like "wtf would someone with 3BB limp UTG other than aces" but then realized I don't fold blackjack for 3 bigs in a rebuy lol.

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live
Guy with AJo raised pre, thought everyone had folded, and shows his hand. He's forced to play the hand with his cards face up, when he gets a call from a guy with 99.
Flop comes 92J. The whole table is giggling. The AJ bets, the 99 raises, AJ reraises. 99 calls. Turn is another J. The AJ bets, 99 calls. River is a 2. The guy with 99 sits back and giggles. AJ checks, 99 bets, AJ shoves, and 99 calls all in.
Pot is shipped to the guy who played his hand face up.
Yes, I saw this on youtube.

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live
In a 5/10 NL game.
Huge Fish in the straddle, "okay" but spew player raises to 80 and fish calls. Heads up to flop.
Flop: J83r. Fish check/calls a cbet
Turn: 2o. Fish check/calls 2nd barrel
River: 4o. Fish bets 500, Other dude raises 1.2k, Fish calls in like 10secs
Fish: AKo
Sadly, AK was GOOD!
pretty sick bet/call for value

Sometimes players would tank so he'd tell them "I have ACES!" and even go as far as showing them and begging them not to call.

I would love to play in a game with this guy, 400BBs deep at those stakes........... yum yum.

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live
2/5 game. $1000 in pot. Heads up. Board runs out Jd-7d-4s-Ah-3d. The guy first to act puts the other guy in for $800. The 2nd guy (a feared player in the game) thinks for a while. While he's thinking, the 1st guy (who is nervous against this good player), says, "here, I'll show you" and tables J-J. The 2nd guy looks and says, "what's that, two jacks?". 1st guy, "yes, it's a set of jacks". 2nd guy, "I call" and shows 9d-8d.

Sorry, that's not a poker story.
Here's a poker story.
UTG in 1/3 game with normal stacks raises. Gets one MP caller plus button, a woman. Flop is A blank blank, UTG bets, MP folds, she calls. Turn is blank, UTG bets she calls. River is blank, UTG bets, she tanks. She turns over TT to get a reaction (she is big on this kind of thing.) Finally, she said "I don't think you have an ace."
All fairly standard, if a little Hollywoody. And you're wondering how this can be a poker story. The reason is that she didn't call and she didn't fold. That's right - she shoved.
UTG had AK. I told someone she made the dumbest possible play someone could make. His response was "No, UTG folding the river would actually be the dumbest." (I'm sorry to say, for the sake of this story, that didn't happen.)

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live
utg huge fish limps and i limp behind with a10 off because i feel something fishy. it goes 7 ways to flop and it comes A9K rainbow. utg checks i lead into 6 ppl for psb get 1 caller. utg then check raises very small and i muck. other player flats. turn is 10 that gives me 2 pair ch ch. river blank check check. utg shows pocket queens that check raised on that flop(not as a bluff) and other player shows ace 4 off. hero proceeds to jump off a building

I played with a guy in a small club in South Seattle who would only look at one of his Holdem down cards because it was bad luck to look at both - seriously!!

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live
Last week I'm playing 2/5 and the game is absurd with pots over 1k every orbit and all sorts of crazy ****. I'd been playing kind of tight and 3bet out of the blinds with JJ and get called by this asian guy who had been drinking a lot, seeing every flop and superdeep and goes "i know you got something like jack jack but we gotta see a flop" Flop is like ten high unconnected rainbow and he calls my cbet and says "now i know you have jack jack." Turn blank and i shove for like pot and he starts tanking and says "man i only have one card to hit and i just want to know that i have that card. i know you have jack jack can you just show me? i'm pretty sure i'm gonna call i really want to hit it" i realize the guy is actually going to call if i show my jacks so i flip them and he flips his A5o and tanks. the dealer, all the players, a couple floors are all looking at the table with puzzled looks on their faces, and i am as bewildered as they are. then he goes "hey how about i put in 200 to your 250 and if the ace comes i get the 250?" i agree and the river blanks and i ship the pot. freeeee money

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live
Down in Costa Rica playing in a cash game at Jaco Beach. After the flop local declares all in with a double fisted move into the pot. Before he releases the chips, hero insta calls. Player now takes his chips off the table into his pockets and tries to leave the casino. Local gets escorted into a room 1.5 hours later after police arrive he is forced to pay $280 which is how much hero had and then released.

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live
I had to register and post for this one. This guy was the wierdest/dumbest guy I had ever played with.
Playing 2/5 at local casino in OK about a year ago. Guy sits down that I haven't seen before and starts making crazy check raise shoves after flops and turns. This works first 2 or 3 times, but he turned his hand face up after every bluff as he is dragging pot. Doesn't take long before he starts getting called pretty light. After getting felted 4 or 5 times in less than 1 hour, (he always re-loaded for max-$500) this hand comes up.
Side note-obviously our game became "lets try to double thru the new/dumb/spewy guy", so the game got a little wierd for a while. I actually doubled thru him with JQ after flopping top pair and getting check raised all in.
Dumb/funny hand: He is heads up with a regular, flop is 468 rainbow. He checks, reg bets and spewy shoves (BTW, he had just re-loaded with fresh rack). Reg snap calls. Turn comes 8, river ace. Reg turns over A8 for the runner boat. Spewy victim slams 57o face up and storms out of poker room. He had flopped stone cold nuts, gotten it in good for first time and gotten run down.
We all looked around, had a little chuckle, and continued playing our normal game. I have never seen the guy again.

I'm talking about the most idiotic, boneheaded, moronic decisions possible. As in you-really-should-stop-playing-poker stupid and you're not even drunk.
I'll start. Playing at the Hard Rock Tampa in a $180 buy in tourney. Villain has about 6k left and sees a multiway flop out of the small blind. Flop is all spades, 10 high. Villain donks 1000 and the action behind him is shove, shove and shove. He tanks, calls and shows A-10 no spade. Of course he's drawing dead to runner runner boat vs two flushes and busts.
|
I had a player in call me with 10 high on a river after he called flop and turn of a 78 QKK board at the hard rock Tampa. He then showed after I showed 88.
