Yeah, that was pretty dumb to fold the best hand, Mr. Muck. That guy with the flush outplayed you.

Yeah yeah!! I see.

I like playing with him the times I do see him and I often win. I just give him to much credit the first time I played him, never again.

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live

2/5 NL, heads up on the river, pot is $150, $800 behind effective.

Board: 6d 8d 9d Td 3s

Tremendous fish who is last to act exposes his hand out of turn: Kd 8s. He is just DYING to show this hand down.

First to act, a competent but grumpy middle aged guy, says he hasn't acted yet and the dealer confirms.

Grumpy starts shuffling and counting chips, Fish says "don't even think about trying to bluff here. I'm calling."

Grumpy keeps thinking and cutting chips, Fish says "I dare you to even try betting here. I DARE YOU"

Grumpy kind of smirks a little and pushes in a giant stack of black $100 chips.

Fish SNAAAAAAAAAAP calls $800. Grumpy shows 7d5s for a str8 flush. Fish insta-disappears from the room, leaving the table aghast at his jaw dropping stupidity.

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live

I did not think I would be able to top the story in my OP but I was playing in the Thunder Valley $60 buy-in tourney on Saturday. Fast forward to final table.

With the blinds at 6k/12k, the player in the big blind has 13k. Total. 12k of it is in the middle already and he has a single 1k chip left.

AND HE FOLDED.

He was forced all-in the next hand with 2-4 offsuit. He lost and busted.

Almost as good, other people were pissed off at me before he busted because I would not chop with such a short stacked player at the table.

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live

I have a 2-way tie for the dumbest play I've ever seen.

1. NL Hold'em. Three 10's on the flop. Another 10 on the turn. Player A goes all-in for over $300. Player B calls. The river is a 6. Player A turns over Ace-X. Player B turns over a Jack high and says, "well I thought it was a tie if we both had quads."

2. NL Hold'em again. On the river, player B goes all in out of turn. Player A says, "Hey, he went out of turn! Don't I get to go first?" Dealer confirms that it's Player A's turn. Player A bets $50. Player B folds. Player A shows that he had the stone cold nuts.

I have a little sympathy for #1 forgetting about a kicker with Quads on the board. But I laughed out loud @ #2

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live

Playing 2/5NL in North Florida - two older fish had been battling it out all night and both had over 1k behind. There was heavy betting on a flop and turn of K-10-7-3, with three hearts on the board. The river brings the 10, first to act bets out $150 and the older Mexican fellow thinks for a second, stares down his opponent, flips over the A and announces he's all in for another $700 or so. Of course the guy snap calls and flips over quad 10's.

I loved this play so much because the thinking behind it was just absolutely mind-numbing. By showing the A he ensured that nothing worse than his hand would ever call - only better. And just to make it clear, he wasn't trying to be nice to his opponent, he actually had some choice words for him as he left the poker room.

1/2 game. Player A (~$500 behind) raises to $10. Player B re-raises all-in for $500. Player A seriously confused tanks then folds QQ face up. Player A shows AA and says "didn't want you to call with whatever you had and suck out on me lol."

2/5 game at Thunder Valley Casino. The shuffle machine has a glitch and isn't working so the dealer shuffles the deck by hand and deals the cards. A tight player utg opens the pot to $15. It folds around to the big blind who is an extremely annoying reg/legit crazy person. He picks up his cards and looks at them for a bit, gives a speech about how he doesn't trust the dealer and "can feel the setup coming" and folds black Aces face up. Didn't ask for a a chip or anything just mucks the nuts. Utg flips over KK and laughs while taking in the pot.

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live

A regular player in private 10-25 game would always buy in for the max which was 10K and every time he was dealt Aces he'd shove(vs limp, vs raise, unopened). and then PROUDLY flip over AA and tell everyone how he hates Aces because they always get cracked.

Sometimes players would tank so he'd tell them "I have ACES!" and even go as far as showing them and begging them not to call.

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live

I actually saw the same thing once in a 2/5 game at the Wynn. There was a really laggy player who was opening with all sorts of junk. A nitty old lady just got stacked by him a few hands earlier when she just called with A-K and he flopped two pair. Laggy opens another pot and this time she 3-bets him. I four-bet squeezed from the BB and Laggy says, "I have pocket aces, I'm all-in and I do not want you to call."

Re: Dumbest plays you've ever seen live

Ill just give the setup of the hand because its hard to describe otherwise.
I have TJ and i am oop vs villain.
I raise pre, he calls, else fold.
Flop AKA
I bet ~80 he calls.
Turn AKA8
I bet ~160 he calls.
River AKA86
I'm check/folding because at this point I'm beat everywhere and I don't see him folding ANYTHING to that river 6.
He checks back and refuses to table his hand. So i sheepishly table TJ high, he says "I missed" and I take it down to his 54 missed 5 high 1 card flush draw.
