Re: Charity Poker Room vs Casino (Michigan Question)

not many people the one time I was there, but it was on a Tuesday.

Standard soft 1/2 game. Couple nitty old timers.

I think they run tourneys at 6 or 7 pm, although there was not enough interest on this night.

Ahhh....just because it isn't followed, does not mean they are not breaking the rules. Hence, the state is trying to crack down on "bad" charity rooms. Remember,,,all omaha cash games MUST be played as HI/LO..not just HI. fwiw

Yes, all charity cash games are fixed limit poker, a fixed min bet of $2, fixed max bet of $1000...yea its funny, but it is, what it is...........

Otter, to answer your question, did i find Doc's on an off night? Sadly, no...that sounded pretty standard for Docs. The sad thing is, the two guys who run the room are making great money and don't have a clue on how to run it. Sad.
imo

Snookers on hall road near lakeside mall is really good for tournies. I think it's monday + weds is $10 and rebuys for an hour and tues + thurs is $30 no rebuys, but the days could be opposite. They usually get about 70 people for all the tournies too so it's always a nice tournout.

I may have had an off day when i wrote this and I believe i was a little harsh in my assessment this day. I do apologize if i offended the crew at Doc's. After re-reading Otter's post...that night did sound a little extreme. Normally its not like that, heck since i cant play where i work....most of the time I play at Doc's.

I've talked to a few people since this and was told that two people were asked not to come back for a few weeks. I don't know if it's the same 2 I was talking about or not but If that's true, then well done Docs

Down goes Coop's in Ypsi...they were busted by the state for operating without a charity. I guess that means they kept 100% of the rake.

2-4 tables depending on time and day. By far the best action in Grand Rapids.

It's inevitable though that they get shut down at some point. I witness literally 15+ instances of State rules violations evey time I'm there.
