Most properties seem to have the poker action well separated from games against the house.

Where is your favorite place to play that has tables closest to all the real degens in action?

Sands, pa. poker pit is in the middle of the casino floor.

Bally's room is super close to blackjack and the craps pit. I know I've been guilty of taking 10-15 minute breaks from the table to hit it big with the dice. Yo eleven!

In my local casino (Rotterdam), the poker tables are surrounded by slot machines and I hate it for all the annoying sounds (especially the Wizard of Oz machine which keeps playing Somewhere over the Rainbow all night). I'd much rather be in a quiet separated area.

The Borgata has craps tables right outside the poker room.

Harrah's NOLA has a rail, but it's only a couple feet high so it feels like it's integral to the remainder of the casino.

I've read that the Atlantic Club in AC has a couple of tables that are in the middle of the gaming floor.

I think it was still called the AC Hilton. I played on those tables once, they were litterally at the end of a craps pit, one on each side.

The Planet Hollywood "room" in Vegas is a section of the floor with a rope around it. It's not the classiest joint, but the games get pretty crazy after midnight.

Ballys moved its room within the past year. It's no longer in the middle of the casino floor, it moved off to the side closer to the entrance of one of the hotel towers.

Planet Hollywood, which someone else mentioned, makes more sense as a Vegas casino with tables on the floor.

Harrahs LV tables are also right next to the table games; almost anyone cutting through the casino to avoid the heat will see them.

I hate the Sands poker room. I think it's crazy loud to the point where you can't even hear yourself think.

Generally, however, I like the poker room being somewhat close to the main floor to encourage the casual player to walk in and give poker a shot.

I think the Venetian has a great set up with a beautiful room fairly close to the gaming floor. I think the Bellagio and the Borgata strike a decent balance, too.

I think Caesar's Las Vegas has it all wrong... it's room down a corridor from the sports book is way too isolated.

Has Harrahs moved their tables? Last I was there they were in a totally separate room accross from the sports book.

Poker room is right up front in the middle now. It is wide open, impossible to miss it walking through there.

They added some cash game tables in the pit, literally, at our local casino and now use the poker room for tournaments only. Big increase in the number of casual cash game players which has been good for the win rate of the regs.

Have since played at Sands, very nice set up.

Caesars LV moved their room to a great location recently.

I agree that Bellagio & Venetian strike a nice balance. Aria too.

Also Planet Hollywood definitely has their games in a great spot as well

Need some noise cancelling headphones for such rooms, but yes the games are generally better.

Yeah, but you're forgetting just how big the poker room is and just how lazy poker players can be, so unless you're playing at one of those tables as so as you walk in the place, the craps tables aren't that close.

I think the idea is that he wants pit players wandering into the poker room, not that he wants to hop out of the poker room to play pit games. But i could be wrong.

I think the reverse is far more likely to happen, though: the poker player takes a bad beat, he steams, then goes in the pit and plays craps or slots or w/e, and is also allowed to sit there and smoke and just be by himself. Whereas, people who play in the pit, and who are used to that fast non stop action, are far less likely to wander into the poker room, because, poker is too slow, poker requires too much skill, you can't smoke, you'll probably get yelled at if you act too slow or ask too many questions, and maybe more importantly, the wins from poker often come to you in an ebb and flow motion opposed to hitting a jackpot on the slots or running it up at the craps table.

Played at the Belle of Baton Rouge a number of years ago and the tables were right in the pits. I remember someone getting hit in the back with the dice once.

Hard Rock and Silver Sevens (Terrible's) have their poker right in the middle of the table games pit.
