Canadian B&M road trip
Since I live in Michigan now, I figure it's a good time to head to the Great White North (or Great White East, from my current locale) and play some cards.
The plan: hit the road on the motorsickle Wednesday August 29th, cross Detroit/Windsor border that afternoon/evening.

Return home Monday September 3rd.
looking for places to hit in Ontario. any/all suggestions welcome.
what I play:
NLHE up to 5/10
LHE up to 20/40
HORSE (and/or other mix games) up to 10/20
thoughts?
thanks.

Re: Canadian B&M road trip
Just staying in Ontario?
NLHE - Caesars - Windsor .
Fallsview - Niagara falls
Rama - Orillia
Limit is played at all of the charity casinos. I usually don't play limit
Brantford - Point Edward? Great Blue Heron
If you can get on the OLG website it has a lists and addresses of all Ontario Casinos and what card games they offer.
If you are planning on coming this way towards Toronto I would suggest Fallsview.
Not sure if I am allowed to post the OLG website.
Ontario Lottery and Gaming.

Re: Canadian B&M road trip
thanks for the heads up on the site.
yeah, I plan on staying in Ontario, as putting on miles (or kM) on the old Harley is fairly taxing (physically), and I want to have a good blend of riding/poker.
Don't want have to haul ass to get somewhere, only to be too tired to play decently.
Also, any suggestions on accommodations? I'm perfectly comfortable with, and in fact prefer, cheap motels.

Re: Canadian B&M road trip
I would suggest the following:
Windsor Casino the first night, then Brantford for day 2 (Limit games there), and down to Niagara for a couple of days for Casino Niagara and Fallsview for NLHE (possibly some Omaha?), then you have a few options, Casinorama is a couple hours north of Toronto, 1000 islands is pretty much a couple hours east. Rama has NLHE, 1000 islands plays spread limit (bet between $3-$100 for example).
Then spend the last day heading home because you are a good 5-6 hour drive away.
If you don't mind driving you could 'try' for Lac Leamy on the Quebec border but that is a crazy haul home. Especially if you have a losing session

There's a map on the OLG site here:
http://www.olg.ca/find_location.jsp
The circle/triangles are casinos.

As a former Michigander now living in Ottawa (maybe 15 minutes from Casino Du-Lac Leamy) I can confirm not worth it. Pushy dealers, $7 rake, no comps, long waitlists, games full of a mix of TAG internet guys and crotchety old guys that have been nursing the same $200 stack since 1987.
Maybe check it out if you happen to already be here, definitely don't extend the trip for it though.

Just so you know OP, this opinion is coming from an old croterchy TAG internet player himself.
Disregard it, because on many nights there is some really good action at 2/5+ at Lac Leamy.

It's true I play mostly online, but I've also been to several casinos and charity rooms from Michigan to South Korea.
You're welcome to your opinion. I'm welcome to mine too, and I stand by it.
Even if Lac Leamy had a phenomenal card room, it would still be a stretch to tack on that much extra time and go so far out of the way to get there. I don't believe Lac Leamy is even above average as far as most casino fare goes.
Detouring to go there would be like deciding to drive 200 miles to go to McDonalds. While on a motorcycle tour of fine restaurants.
In all seriousness though OP, if you do decide to go, make sure you call ahead at least an hour or two and put your name on the list. That's the standard practice there, and it'll leave you stuck waiting for over an hour if you don't call ahead (provided you show up at a time when you would expect any good games to be running).

Re: Canadian B&M road trip
If you were going to go that far forget Lac Leamy and stay on the 401 to QC and get to Playground Poker. But it is a long haul.

Re: Canadian B&M road trip
I would follow the suggestions above, Windsor Brantford and Niagara.
If you make it to Toronto then definitely stop by the CNE casino
https://www.theex.com/attractions-shows/casino/
Can be a long line up, but worth it to get a view of fish, pros and lots of different people in the lineup. Can be funny tables there. But may be worth checking that out rather than driving all the way up to Rama.
Good luck with the travels!!

Re: Canadian B&M road trip
I definitely agree with 'onepercent'. If you have the time to make the CNE Casino in Toronto you definitely should. It's all limit holdem, high rake, but worth it due to quality of players.
It closes September 3rd though, so make it your first stop if you decide to stay longer than you had planned.

As someone that lives in Quebec, I definitely wouldn't make this detour. Not one of the better casino's I've been to. I would describe it as about with a two hour wait to be seated. Even during the wait they couldn't accommodate me at the craps tables which also strangely had a line up. Also it had the same food as the Montreal. The kind you find in school cafeterias. No one seems to like it and it's overpriced yet they'll never change it.
If you do plan a side trip to Montreal they're are some great threads about the Montreal Casino and Playground Poker club.
