Cage mishap handled well (Borgata) Cage mishap handled well (Borgata)

I was at the Borgata last weekend, and bought $300 in red to sit at a 1/2 NL game.

I got to my table, emptied my rack onto the table, and immediately noticed that one of my stacks was 1 chip short (despite the fact that the cashier had done the requisite 'check' by running another chip by the stacks on the rack). I then noticed a quarter (25 cents; not a green chip) settling to a rest right by my stack.

I stared at it for a second to process what just happened and then was like "OH HELL NO" when it clicked and started to rack up again to head back to the cage. The dealer was like "sup?" and I told her what I saw. She said "oh my gosh, yeah go back up there right away"

I head back to the cage, half expecting to be told "gtfo" but the cashier was so apologetic and immediately handed me a new rack with 3 red stacks in it, and put the offending stacks aside to be checked I guess.

A+ for the Borgata. Does this surprise anyone? Has anyone had good/bad experiences in this (or similar) situations? If so, where?

epilogue: I got back to my table, and the guy next to me goes "wow that worked?" and I played along and said "yeah i can't believe they bought it!" the dealer started cracking up and said "i dare you to try that again tomorrow." haha.

kindof surprised it worked myself. One guy once told me got a brick that was a bill short (he took it from the poker cage to the pit to gambool) and was out of luck.

I was at Borgata last fall and this happened:

I had 192 in chips (whites) and when I went to cash out the old man in the cage counted out four hundreds and four twenties plus the extra 12. So he was going to give me 492.

At what point do you think Borgata security would have come looking for me if I had smiled and walked away?

Same thing as happened to OP happened to me at the Wynn (though I had bought $500 worth of red rather than $300) this week. The cage staff asked me pretty aggressively whether I had dropped the missing chip or let the chips out of my sight in the intervening 3 minutes or so, and when I said no, they gave me the missing $5 chip. I was impressed, but not surprised, as the staff at the Wynn are uniformly the best in Las Vegas as far as I am concerned.

DEFINITELY always keep an eye on your chips even at the cage.

Slight OT: And for Borgata purposes, NEVER accept money from strangers asking to buy your rack, as you are standing in line. Can any one say counterfeit bill?

I don't think there's a seriously higher risk of a counterfeit from a player than from the cage. I sell racks to players at the table all of the time.

It's different if you offer to sell chips for expediency. Much less likely someone looking to pass funny money is going to take a chance on someone volunteering before transacting with the casino.

I don't think buying and selling chips between players is a bad idea if you are a regular in the room and kind of know who is who. That is, I am not going to do any favors for someone I've never seen play before but when I cash out I regularly sell to the person waiting for my seat.

I often get a kick out of selling my racks to the 5/10 NL game when I cashout. They are right by the cage and if there is a slow line and someone busts out it just makes it easier for everyone.
